Marjorie McDermott, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021 in her Colorado Springs home, surrounded by family. She was born Marjorie Glenoril Snyder in Winfield, KS on April 2, 1923 to Dr. Howard Lincoln and Glenoril Snyder. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1941 and from Kansas University in 1945, where she majored in Spanish and was active in the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She married her childhood friend, Charles Ward McDermott, on December 22, 1946, following Charles' service in the U.S. Navy in WWII. They were married 58 years prior to Charles' passing in 2005. They lived in Topeka and Wichita, KS while Charles began a career in law. Their children, Thomas, Catharine and Richard were born in their hometown of Winfield, KS, and David was born in Denver, CO shortly after they moved there in February of 1955. The family moved to Colorado Springs in August of 1964, and built the house where Marjorie lived until her passing. Marjorie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, hostess and homemaker. She was an avid tennis and bridge player, a poodle lover and teddy bear collector, and she enjoyed dance and water aerobics. Family bonds were renewed annually at her Thanksgiving celebrations documented in decades of family photos. She is deeply missed by her large family and many friends. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, H.L. and Glenoril; her five siblings: Howard, Cecil, Robert, Catharine and Dorothy; and her husband, Charles. She is survived by son Thomas (Dorothy) of Centennial, CO, daughter Catharine Holaday (Bart) of Colorado Springs, son Richard (Betsy) of Littleton, son David (Dana) of Colorado Springs, 13 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held at the Broadmoor Community Church, 315 Lake Ave., Colorado Springs, 80906 on Tuesday, November 23, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the H.L. Snyder Medical Foundation, 1407 Wheat Road, Winfield, KS 67156, https://www.snydermf.org/.

I was so sad to learn that your mother was gone. I will miss seeing her Christmas Cards with the picture of the whole family as it grew each year. She and your father were dear friends to mother and dad, and then to us. I love the picture you used-that´s how she looked when she became engaged in a conversation. She will be missed. My thoughts are with all of you. DD

Rich and family, so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. Though I did not know her, I am certain that she is in the arms of God and watching over her family. Deepest sympathy to you and yours at this sorrowful time. May God Bless you all.
