Melissa "Lissa" Maner
(Rodd) Williams

August 12, 2024

Melissa Maner Rodd Williams was born September 15, 1973 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Penrose Main Hospital, and unexpectedly passed away from a brain aneurysm August 12, 2024 at Penrose Main Hospital, completing her full circle of life.

"Lissa," to all who knew and loved her, was "The defender of all things beautiful", and was a bright light in everyone's lives. She was a lover of people, animals, and nature. Lissa had a gift of making people feel lighter and more at ease when in her presence. She always searched and found peace in hard times and always had a positive perspective for all, with loving support no matter the struggle. There was always an intentional acceptance. Lissa was concerned with justice while still looking for the positive in each moment in her life. Her "old soul" wisdom shone through for all.

She was a hospitable hostess always concerned with other's comfort and enjoyment. Her love language was caregiving for others to the point of obsession. Her compassion was endless, always moving, active, and exuding energy and seeing the beauty in all living things. This energy brought an entertainer, whose expressive storytelling could leave one laughing to the point of tears. She spoke with her whole body and the smile she carried was contagious.

Melissa had deep Faith and believed our Lord God has a plan for all of us, that God is real, and to enjoy our blessings of family, friends and life.

Melissa found her true love in 1998 with John "Will" Williams, and they were married May 31, 2003, at La Foret in Black Forest. They established their life in the Cheyenne Mountain community, where Melissa had formed deep roots from preschool age on. Their son Spencer Raymond Williams was born March 16, 2005. She loved these two fiercely and was a dedicated wife and mother. She referred to Will and Spencer as "her boys", experiencing many adventures together. They were three "partners in crime", always living life to the fullest- camping, hiking, Air Force and Bronco football games, concerts, traveling, and being together.

Melissa grew up in the shadow of Cheyenne Mountain. She graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1992. During high school, Lissa began working in the area of senior care at PEO Chapter House, and spent the next 17 years dedicating her life to help in this area. Melissa also worked at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Colorado Springs in the Volunteer and Hospitality Ministry.

Melissa is survived by her husband John "Will" Williams of 21 years, her son Spencer Williams, her mother Minta Rodd, her father Lonn Rodd, her sister Christie (Ross) Williams, and her niece Minta Williams, the Maner Families in Michigan and Ohio, and the Rodd Families in Iowa and California.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in the Spring of 2025, Melissa's favorite season. The family will make an announcement via social media and word of mouth.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating, in Melissa's name, to The Tradition of Excellence Foundation c/o Cheyenne Mountain School District 12, 1775 LaClede Street, Colo Springs, CO, 80905, or the First United Methodist Church, 420 N. Nevada Ave, Colo Springs, CO. 80903.
We were blessed to have her in our lives for 50 years. She will be dearly missed.

One of my fondest memories is from when I attended The Snow Patrol concert in Denver with Christie, Lissa and Will. It was a "school night" and a late night but we really enjoyed it and had fun being silly, just talking and walking to and from the venue.

Spencer, our dads make us boys but our moms make us men. Knowing you as I do, Melissa and Will did a great job, and she will be forever proud of you, what you do, and who you are. Hold tight to Will and his teachings, and your life will be full of meaning that you can share with others. As for Mom, I will wish, "Into paradise may the angels lead you." My thoughts are with you always.

So lucky to have considered Lissa my friend. She was so fun to be with and such a lover of all. Thank you Christie for sharing your amazing sis with me and for letting me be silly with the two of you and be a part of her life. She is remembered so lovingly and is missed every single day.
