Jack Freeman, 73, of Peyton, CO., died on March 24, 2024. He is survived by his wife, of 28 years, Sharon Davis, daughter Ruth Ann (Wayne) Tyson, son Curtis C. Davis, grandsons Michael and Hagen, granddaughters Selena, Jasmine, Mikaylah, Truth and Angela, along with 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Nancy (John) Dunn and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Growing up, Jack was deeply involved in the church. At the age of 18, he became a minister and preacher with the Church of Christ. He headed his own church from ages 21 through 31. He attended Florida College (Bible College) for two years then obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Martin's College in 1986. In 1998, Jack graduated from the University of Denver with a Master's Degree in Social Work.
Jack joined the Army Infantry Division in 1981. He graduated #1 from the NCO Academy as the Distinguished Honor Graduate. During his career he received many awards and decorations. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked in community mental health facilities for 8 years. Then Jack began working for the VA as Director of the Homeless Program in Colorado Springs. After his retirement from the VA, he began working for Centura Health Care (Penrose Hospital) on April 18, 2008 as a Psychiatric Evaluator in the Emergency Department.
He loved fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback riding and traveling, but he especially loved playing golf. He was an avid reader and enjoyed a good game of dominoes, poker or pinochle. While camping, he would often play the harmonica.
His life was a testament to compassion and resilience offering solace and understanding to those in their most vulnerable moments. Although he may no longer be with us, Jack's legacy of kindness, empathy and unyielding dedication to helping others, will continue to inspire and influence many. Let us remember the light he brought into the world and hold it close as we navigate the darkness. Rest in peace Jack. Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those you have helped.
