Paul Keohane Obituary

October 28, 1932 - February 10, 2009 Paul Joseph Keohane passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the age of 76. He was born October 28, 1932 to Paul Joseph Keohane and Margaret Mahoney Keohane in Boston, Massachusetts. His childhood was spent in both Ireland and the USA. He graduated from Boston University in 1955 and then received his JD from SMU Dedman School of Law, Dallas, in 1963. After being admitted into the Colorado Bar Association in 1963, Paul practiced law privately throughout Colorado and served as District Attorney in Canon City. He was appointed District Court Judge by Governor Richard Lamm in 1980, a position in which he served until 1989. He was appointed Federal Administrative Law Judge in New Mexico in 1997 and then transferred to Colorado Springs in 2003, serving as judge until his death. Paul was a true individual with a brilliant sense of humor; he was as adept at navigating jeep trails as he was in the courtroom. He is survived by his wife, Katie Baxter; his three children, Sean, Jennifer, and Kevin; his two grandsons, Conall and Gareth; his three sisters, Peggy Corcoran, Kathleen Nasser and Eileen Keohane; several cousins, nieces and nephews in the USA and of Glandore, County Cork, Ireland; and many beloved friends. An informal celebration of Paul's life will be held Sunday, February 15th, 2009 at McClellan's Grill & Brewing Company, 413 Main Street, Canon City, CO from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Arrangements handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
