Paula Petrie Obituary

Paula Vickers Petrie of Indian Wells, California passed away June 24, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Paula was born on December 4, 1926 in Wichita Kansas to Nell and Jack Vickers. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Petrie and her son Kevin Petrie. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Lareau of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Carol Petrie of Indian Wells, California. Paula is survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, upon whom she showered her love and affection. Paula shared her time between her two homes, one in Indian Wells, California where Paula was a member of Eldorado County Club since 1973. Her second home over looked the greens of the Broadmoor Golf Course in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Golf, bridge, the love of a good novel and being the consummate hostess of many gatherings were some of her favorite pastimes; along with watching sports with her brothers and countless other relatives and friends. Most of all, Paula demonstrated a deep love for her family and was a devout, faithful Catholic. She lived her life fully. Her generosity and positive spirit knew no bounds. She will be deeply missed. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Pauline Chapel, 2 Park Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. Rosary will follow at church at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2446 Fifth Street, Castle Rock, CO 80105. The family suggests that donations be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 43775 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, CA 92260. (760) 345-6502. www.sacredheartpalmdesert.com

She was the Mother of my late friend Kevin and she had a great sense of humor. Her personalized California license plates was PPPP : poor, pitiful Paula Petrie! All meant in great fun obviously.
