Raymond McElhaney Obituary

In loving memory of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. Raymond Earl McElhaney passed from this life to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2013. Known to everyone as "Earl," he was born on October 17, 1916 in Hamill, South Dakota. He proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard during World War II. Earl often told stories of the changes he experienced over his 96 years of life, from the hardships of the great depression to the advancements of current society. Earl loved all sports. He had a passion for hunting and taught his shotgun skills to members of the 1930 Chicago Cubs in Winner, South Dakota. His love of sports has been passed on to his family. Earl is survived by his wife, Margaret; children: Sue McElhaney-Lew (Harold), Ray (Tami), Kathy Biondi (Greg), and Mark (Linda); and five grandchildren: Michelle, Megan, Caitlin, Daniel, and Riley. He was most proud of the accomplishments and love of his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of life, and devotion to his family. A Rosary Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3122 Poinsetta Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. A luncheon reception will be held across street at the Hope House. A private family committal service will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
