Richard Hobden Obituary

Richard, age 74, passed away at his home surrounded by Linda, his wife of 35 years, his daughter Rondelle and granddaughter Samantha. Richard was born in Colorado Springs and after graduating from Colorado Springs High School he worked for a while at his father's radio and TV repair shop and served in the army before attending college. During his college years he spent his summers driving tourists up Pikes Peak. In 1965 he was hired at Hewlett-Packard and retired just six days short of 36 years of service in 2001. Those of us who knew him will miss his sense of humor and his great love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, J. Wayne and Glenora (Meyers) Hobden, and his son, Russell Head. He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter Rondelle Shambo, and granddaughters Samantha and Shayllan, his sister Alice (Bruce) Bryan, and brothers Chuck, Bill (Elaine), Russell (DeEtte), and Alan (Beverly) Hobden, plus many nieces and nephews. Cremation is being handled by Alternative Cremation and a memorial service will be held Thursday, June 30, at 1:00 pm at Mesa Hills Bible Church, 615 W. Uintah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Mesa Hills Bible Church, where he was a member and attended since 1984. A special thank you to the many therapists that worked with Dick, the Manitou Springs Volunteer Fire Dept. who assisted several times, and to those at Odyssey Hospice who helped us bring him home and assisted the family the four short days before the Lord called him home.
