Robert Cleek Obituary

Robert “Bill� Cleek, age 81, a longtime Colorado Springs resident, passed away on September 4, 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Bill was born on November 7, 1927in Aurora, Illinois, the son of the late Marion R. and Elizabeth (Reichmunth) Cleek. Bill was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army with the 10th Mountain Division, and later was the longtime owner of Rex Tire Company located on the west side of town. He was an active member in the community. He was an active member of Al Kaly Shrine and was the past President of the Colorado Springs Shrine Club, he was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Manitou Lodge # 68, the Southern Colorado Consistory Scottish Rite, the Ruxton Chapter # 10 Order of Eastern Star, Colorado York Rite Masons, Elk's Lodge #309, Moose Lodge #244 and a member of the American Legion Post # 912 in Plymouth, Illinois. Bill enjoyed collecting antiques cars, traveling the country in his motor home and spending time with his family. Bill also spent the last 30 years wintering at his home in south Texas. Bill is survived by his longtime companion, Betty Thompson, children, Tom Cleek (Shari), Debbie Switzer (Jerry), Sandy Wells (Tony) and Tim Cleek, grandchildren, Brian Cleek (Rachel), Renee Bennett (Mark), Nick Switzer, Jessica Halliday (Tim), Mason Cleek, Nathan Wells (Katie), Amy Butler (Ryan), Andie Anderson, great grandsons, Trent and Chase Bennett. Bill was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Cleek Rogers, his second wife, Betty Christensen Cleek, two brothers and a sister. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80904. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Blunt Mortuary Chapel with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to any Shriners Hospitals for Children, Transportation Fund, through the funeral home office.
