Robert Arthur "Bob" Patchell, 91, of Cascade, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, surrounded by the serene beauty of the mountains he called home. Born on July 22, 1933, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, Bob's life was a remarkable journey marked by adventure, dedication, service, and love.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 before embarking on an illustrious 25-year career as a Field Engineer with Colorado Springs Utilities. A man of service, Bob was also a member of the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years with eight of those years acting as Fire Chief, where his leadership and bravery protected his community.
A dedicated family man, Bob was married to his beloved wife, Sandra, for an astonishing 71 years, and together they raised two daughters, Deborah Bornholdt and Dawn Viola. Bob was a loving brother to Malcolm and Larry Patchell, with cherished memories of his late sister, Marjorie Smith. Bob leaves a family legacy with six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.
Bob's talents extended beyond his career as a field engineer as he was an accomplished carpenter as well. Bob built his first home in 1960, in DuBois, Pennsylvania. In the 1980s, he constructed another house in Cascade, Colorado, highlighting his skills once again. He further demonstrated his woodworking talents by building the pulpit, communion table and baptismal furniture for the Church in the Wildwood, in Green Mountain Falls. His devotion to the church extended beyond his carpentry talents as he acted as moderator and was a pivotal figure in the restoration of the Sally Bush Community building. His life marked a path of giving back to the Ute Pass community that he loved.
Known for his love of hunting and fishing, Bob achieved numerous single shot kills of trophy big game animals. His proudest moment bagging a Colorado Big Horn sheep. A quiet yet personable figure with a witty sense of humor, Bob left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
The family will announce memorial service details at a later date. In remembrance of Bob, his family suggests donations to the Cascade Volunteer Fire Department, 8015 Severy Rd, Cascade, CO 80809 or Church in the Wildwood, 10585 Ute Pass Ave, Green Mountain Falls, CO 80819

My earliest memories are of Uncle Bob. He was a kind soul whom I respected. I recall visits to his home through the years. I loved the relationship he had with my mom, his sister. They always kept in touch even though they lived apart. My mom shared fond memories of Bob and Sandy during highschool. Truly a remarkable man. He will be missed but never forgotten. Tell my hom "hi," Uncle Bob.
