Hello,
We wanted to let you, your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to the Autistic Children of America Foundation in honor of Ryan E. Haupt US Army Staff Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

I miss our phone calls and seeing your face and smile on messenger. I miss hearing the love in your voice when you talked about your family. I miss you checking up on me and Rickey. We danced in your memory at the Black Hills Powwow. I miss you and I love you forever.

My son,
How I love you and miss you.... 9 years seem like a long time, but it seems like yesterday when those men met me at my car when I got home from work...... That day will be forever etched in my mind. And then the hardest thing I ever had to do was tell your sisters. It broke my heart. The pieces are still being put together. I don't think it will ever be whole again until I see you again. And then it will just burst....... I love you......

To the family of STAFF SGT. RYAN E. HAUPT. I was given a replica dog tag today from my father that he puchased at a fishing show in Knoxville, TN. They were selling tags with random soldiers names on them and the date of their KIA. It is to raise money for Smoky Mountain Service Dogs. They are dogs for soldiers that return from combat for a companion. When I read the name on it I couldn't help but search for his name on the internet. To put a picture with his name on the tag kind of hit home with me. God Bless Ryan Haupt and his family for their sacrifice for this great nation.

I miss you and think of you everyday. I have pictures of you and Nanette in my office and I look at them everyday. I miss your smile and your laugh. I know you are up there watching over all that you knew and probably then some. There is a little one down here named after you Ryan Conner Dobbins Danielle & Greg's youngest son. He is adorable and just full of life just like you! We miss you Ryan.

Dear Ryan,

I keep hearing that what happened to you is making traumatic brain injury is becoming the “signature wound” of soldiers in the Iraq War, so I’ve decided to walk in memory of you at this year’s “Walk For Thought” at the end of March. Since that takes place all the way over here in California I can’t have Nannette there with me, but maybe I can at least sign her up as a virtual walker. ;-)

I do believe that when we die we will all be reunited with our loved ones and when that time comes it will be FOREVER, how beautiful is that.

I wanted to share that I was watching Nancy Grace on Wednesday, July 15 (every day) and at the end of her show she always remembers someone who has fought for our country. She shared Staff SGT Ryan Haupt along with a picture. I was thrilled to see Ryans picture but I never thought Nancy Grace would ever show someone we new. I will try and get a copy of the show for Rusty (Annettes Brother). God Bless you all!

Ryan,
I will be thinking and praying for you tomorrow on your Birthday. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Birthdays In Heaven

Are there birthdays in Heaven?
Does the angel blow his horn?
Announcing to everybody
That this is the day you were born?

Can the stars be your balloons
And angel food your cake?
Presents wrapped in moonbeams
All the angels helped to make.

Birthdays meant so much to you
They were always a big deal
Birthday presents, lots of friends
And perhaps a special meal.

So we'll whisper a little prayer today
Asking everyone up above
To sing you a Happy Birthday song
And give you all our love.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Ryan, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Ryan, I still miss you brother...I want to share some of your song, it will be the first one recorded when I finish writing the album.
"Of all the things I wish that I never would have said, it's that I'd be here to play a funeral for a friend, and the time that we had was never enough, so tell me why my brother this world is so rough, and all the things in this world that we shall never forget, it's how you lived your life with no regret, and how how you met everything head on without fear, and how I would give just about everything just to have you near". We still have the picture of you and joshua at your wedding. I tell my son the story of daddy's best friend and how brave he was. Krista is pregnant and if it is boy he will be named Caleb Ryan Marshall. I love you brother and look forward to when we shall see each other again.

My Dear Son,
Time just seems to slip right into the future. Today we celebrate your 26th birthday. I would never have thought 26 years ago I would give birth to a hero. As I held you in my arms for the first time, I knew you were going to be someone special. God put a compassionate, loving heart in you and that's what it takes to be a hero; such a selfless person; always thinking of others. God planned that future for you even before you were being formed in the womb. I am so blessed God chose me to bring you into this world. It is an honor to have been your mother in this life. I was given a revelation today as I was thinking about you. Today, June 6th, we celebrate your birth into this physical world. As October 17th comes around this year, it will still be painful, but it will also be a time of celebration of your birth into eternity. I thank God He gave us Jesus, our savior to make it possible for us to have eternal life and to share it together. That warms my heart. That is my hope. That is what makes this easier to bear, knowing I will see and be with you again. Nothing will keep us apart then. Praise God! for that.
You know you will always be in my heart and my mind. Thank you for the joy you brought into our lives. I will always love you and treasure the time we had together. Thank you for the memories.
I love you.

Hello Ryan (aka Wyan),

I never got to meet you in person, but I talked to you on the phone a few times and remember how fondly Nannette always spoke of you. You also sent me several really funny texts from Nannette's phone that always made me laugh.

About six months after I heard the news about you, I wrote a poem as a tribute. Your family and friends can read it by going to www.poetry.com and entering "Liz Mihalov" in the poet search fields.

Well, just know that you are often thought of by those of us whose lives you touched and that you will never be forgotten.

I pray every day for our troops, I know that you are watching over us every now and again. We will meet again I am sure of it, but until then, keep us safe and give us your strength...

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I just found this guest book and am deeply touched by all the entries I have read here. Being another one of Ryan's aunts, I'd known him since birth and held him in my arms when he was only a few hours old. Ryan's uncle Barry & I are very proud of Ryan and all that he accomplished in his young lifetime.....such a tragic loss, yet for such a noble cause. Our hearts especially go out to Nanette, Lynn, Lance, Sabrina, Tiffany & Rhonda as well as to the entire Haupt family. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all.

To Lance,Sabrina,Tiffany,Rhonda and the entire family, I am so sorry for you loss, I myself was in shock when I found out, I can only imagine how you all must feel. I knew Ryan best as a teenager, him and his friend Jimmy were the neighborhood pranksters, reaking havoc on everything and everyone. After Ryan joined the army he called me and apologized for all the torment he caused me, but I look back on all of it now and smile. I can't believe he is gone, I was hoping to see him in all his glory as a young adult, what a shame, he will be very missed.

I am struck by his physical beauty which, reading the comments left here, was obviously matched by his soul. May he rest in peace. To his family- I am truly so sorry for your loss. May the pain lessen over time. He will not be forgotten.

My sincerest condolences to Lynn, Sabrina, Tifany, Rhonda, Lance & Jay. As Ryan's former step-mother, I was saddened & shocked to hear of Ryan's passing. Ryan had come such a long way & turned into such a gentleman from the 5-year old bundle of energy I first met. I am so proud knowing Ryan & the effort he made to serve our country...When life handed Ryan lemons, he made such great lemonade.
Whenever I think of Ryan, I always remember when Ryan (about age 10) accidentally shot up the hood of our Suburban when we were target shooting! LOL. Boy, did he come a long way! With love from Jackie B

Our name is Haupt, too. Recently in October I received a call from someone looking for the family of Staff Sgt. Ryan Haupt. From the tone and timber of the man's voice, I could tell this was going to be very sad news for the Haupt family. Since then, I have thought of Ryan and his family every day--saddened by the loss of such a devoted young man. Our hearts go out to this branch of the Haupt family. Even though I didn't know him, I will remember and treasure his sacrifice.

Oh Haupt, man you were always a soldiers --soldier, A great leader, always putting the mission above your own self interests. I remember the good times in Bravo 1-68, you were one of only a few of you infantry guys that were friendly and helpful to the Fisters in the company. 3rd Platoon, Rogue Platoon. Why you man, I guess there is no logical reason, only that I know you always were a leader, always out front, leading by example, it is just not fair. I hope your family knows that you served your country proudly, and above that you were the best of the best to your soldiers and made everyone around you a better person. While I wasn't with you guys this last deployment, part of me will never leave Iraq, I pray for your family and I hope they can find solace in your unwavering dedication. Your joyful personality will be missed, I will never forget you and what you sacrificed for your country. Until we can joke again.

Dear Haupt Family,

I am sorry to hear of Ryan's death, but I wish to express my gratitude for his efforts in our U.S. Army. The sergeant began serving America and sacrificing for each one of us long before he was called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice. He is worthy of our honor and our continued appreciation.

Thank you for sharing him with America and with the AnySoldier family. Please accept my regards and sympathies.

As a Marine mom with a son who has served in Iraq and will be going back, I fear what you have suffered. I cannot say anything that will ease your pain, but I pray that God will take you in His loving arms and comfort you. He is the only one who can fill the void left by Ryan's absence.

Ryan was a truly sweet, fun hearted person with such a love for laughter. He always made sure that he would get you busting up. He, much like his three sisters (Sabrina, Tiffany, and Rhonda), had such a loving heart for another. I have such wonderful memories of him, growing up together. They will always be with me, every minute, of everyday.
I know that my loss is not realized just yet. I know that our family gatherings and birthdays will never be the same. But I do know that I am so proud of my cousin for all that he did for our freedom. He is truly my hero.
I love you Ryan, and will miss your witty disposition and sincere friendship. You are wonderful and honorable man.

We will miss him forever
