On 01/10/2024, Sara Evans Dougherty passed away at the age of 79. Sara Evans was born to Larry & Augusta Evans in Pensacola, FL. She spent her childhood in Boise, ID, and earned a Bachelor's in Education from the University of Idaho. She began teaching in Bakersfield, CA before moving to Colorado Springs, CO where she met and married Jim Dougherty. In 1978, Sara and Jim moved to Spokane, WA. While raising two small boys and teaching FT, she earned her Masters in Education from Whitworth University. In 1995, Sara honed her focus and became a Reading Specialist in Vancouver, WA.
Sara is survived by a step-daughter Teale (Rory) Kocher with Killian & Dakota, sons Darin (Amy) Dougherty with Finn, Beck & Dash, and Jacob (Raeann) Dougherty with Isla & Dean. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years James Dougherty, and step-daughter Jamie Miller (survived by Kevin Miller with Max & Alice).
A memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., 02/17/2024 at Sugar Land Baptist Church, Sugar Land, TX. Donations in Sara's name may be sent to Freedom House Ministries, https://freedomhouseministries.net/wp/ or to Freedom House Ministries, P.O. Box 33150, Portland, OR 97292.

I miss my sweet neighbor Sara so much. I miss her delightful laugh and big smile, and having coffee with her often. Until we meet again little friend.

Sara and I were first grade classmates in Mrs. Brownlee's room at Lowell School in Boise, Idaho In September 1950. I still remember her. I had no idea we were both teaching in Vancouver at the same time. My condolences.
