Theodore Tetman Obituary

Tetman
Theodore Lee Tetman
February 27, 1934
August 28, 2025

Ted Tetman was born in Dayton, Ohio to William H. Tetman and Estella Tetman (Bolls) on February 27, 1934. Ten years later Ted moved to Colorado, and his family followed him, as he recently joked.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Fritzie Tetman (Thiry), parents and sisters, Alice Mucher, Carol Callis and Betty Downour.
Ted is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Marylou Gonzalez (Ed); son Chris Tetman (Sharon) as well as four grandchildren, Mitch (Danielle Duran) Tetman, Travis (Sarah) Laing, Roxanne (Jonathan) Woolridge and Danny (Abby) Gonzalez. He has been able to enjoy six great grandchildren, Norah, Anna, Ruby Woolridge and Aubry Villalobos, Jed and Francine Tetman.
Ted worked at Atomic Research and then spent 30 years at Kaman Sciences for an unparalleled career as a research scientist. In his retirement, he used his knowledge and talents to help others in auto restoration, metal work and repairs for his friends in his church.
Ted, or "Teddy Bear" as known by his wife, Fritzie, or "Papa Bear" and "Great Grand Dadio" as his grandchildren called him will be sorely missed. He was a humble man that gave of his time and talents to his friends and family. He will be remembered as a good friend and loving father.
His words of wisdom that have been passed on have been graciously given as sage man and underscored with love.
His sense of humor will be greatly missed. We are indebted to friends, neighbors, family that gave of their time to Ted in his final months, and especially those at Memorial Hospital and Compassus.
Ted daily read the obituary's looking for his name. Today, he will finally find himself there.
Viewing will be available at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, 80910 on Monday, September 22, 2025 from four to five PM.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 11:45 on September 23, 2025, 1830 S. Corona Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
Internment at Memorial Gardens following Mass.
In Lieu of flowers, please send a donation to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society at bloodcancerunited.org. Thank you.

Yesterday

Worked with Ted for almost 30 years. Heck of a machinist too. He had many friends at Kaman and I am proud to say I was one of them. One of his tricks was to glue just the screw head of a flat head screw in a countersink of a piece that he would make for me and I would try for hours to un-screw.. An amazing man. RIP Ted

He was one of my favorite customers at the pharmacy. He was always so happy and kind. This really hurts my heart. May he rest in peace. Sending my condolences to the family .

We say goodbye to a remarkable man whose presence left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him-especially in the Luxembourgish family, where my grandmother and grandfather, father and mother always kept him in such fond memory.
He was a man of great humor, always able to bring light and laughter wherever he went. He carried a deep respect for women, which was one of the many quiet yet powerful ways he revealed his true character.
He was also a man of strong convictions-never afraid to stand firm for what he believed in, and always ready to defend his position with courage. That strength, combined with his humor and respect, made him truly unique.
Josiane, Lena, Pit, and I will never forget the two weeks we spent in 2023 in the States with Ted and our family-a truly unique and precious journey.

I will always treasure the memories of Uncle Ted's homemade ice cream, his refurbished Willys Jeep that could climb straight up vertical creek embankments (that was one wild ride!), and the look in his eye when he said that if he told me the details of his work for the government he would have to kill me (it was clear he was not going to say anything more about it than that, saving us both from any unfortunate consequences).

He was the rock in our family. We have a lot to live up to in his honor.

My Grandfather will be missed very much. So many good memories of him helping me work on my car and all the advice he gave me whether he realized it was advice or not. He always had a smile and a joke ready whenever he saw me and even called me a few times to tell me a joke he just heard. He was a wonderful role model for not just me and I will always strive to have the type of character he had. I love you Grandpa and may you rest in peace.

In loving memory of a wonderful person.
Ted was always humorous, he was an honest person, I wish his family much strength in these difficult days.
Luxembourg will remember you fondly.
With love, Mariette Hendel

In memory of my uncle Ted, whom I only saw three times but often spoke to on the phone. From stories I have heard, I know that he was a kind, calm, and humorous person.
Dear Uncle Ted, you will always be in the thoughts of your family in Luxembourg.
