Thomas E. Scriven, 73, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, surrounded by his Wyoming family.
Tom lived life with confidence and conviction. He approached every challenge with determination and precision. He valued excellence, hard work, and a good debate, and those who knew him best understood that his ideals came from a place of passion and pride.
Tom was especially proud of his time with the Casper Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, where his lifelong appreciation for music, performance, and discipline began. He also loved golf and travel. He went on to build a successful career in telecommunications and later founded UBC - United Business Communications, where his leadership and drive made a lasting impact.
He is survived by his brother David (Janice) and four nephews. Tom was loved as a dad, grandpa, and "Gampy" by his Colorado family — Stephanie Alber (Victor) and children Sophie and Chase; Sandra Lehmpuhl (Tim) and children Ashley and Cody; Roy Holshue (Libby) and children Cole, Hunter, and Justice; Dawn Enger (Nathan) and children Joshua, Brittany, Rachel, and Julia — Cyndy Scriven, and 5 great-grandsons.
Tom will be remembered for his heart, his humor, his laugh, and his ability to command attention in any room. He had an unmistakable presence and a spirit that left an impression on everyone who crossed his path.
Donations in his memory may be made to IBM - The Myositis Association, 6950 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 370, Columbia, MD 21046.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Patty Jewett Golf Club on October 21st at 6:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to honor a man who lived a full life and who really loved his families!

Though Tom was my good friend in high school, it never seemed like any time had passed as we saw one another over the years. We could see ourselves aging as we met infrequently, he being in Colorado, and I being in California, but that was easily ignored in our camaraderie.

When finally, his body was failing, and that could no longer be ignored, he did those things he could do, accepting, without complaint, the limits of his life.

Not long ago, in conversation, he told me that he knew he would once again be whole when he had passed on; that he would be released from his failing body, and would be free of pain, and able again to do those things he loved to do.

I feel certain that he was right. Peace be with you, my friend.

Tom, with Cyndy, was a
neighborhood leader in efforts to get the golf course behind our homes reopened. Our efforts bore no fruit, but not because Tom didn't inspire us to try everything we could. I'll remember him for that, but also for just what great next-door neighbors he and Cyndy were. Their annual New Year's Eve parties brought the neighborhood together and welcomed new folks.
And no one can ever forget the wonderful, animated Christmas decorations they put up, including music over the radio, that brought people from around the region to view it.
May God welcome you through the Pearly Gates, my friend! Rest in Peace!
