A. McNamee Obituary

A. James McNamee passed to his next calling quietly in his sleep at home on July 23, 2009. Jim was born October 11, 1924 in Williston, ND and raised in Minot, ND with four brothers and two sisters. He joined the Army Air Corps November 30, 1942 and served around the world as a radio operator on C-47 transport planes. He attained the rank of sergeant and was discharged November 22, 1945. Jim married Anita Cole of Wisconsin Dells, WI in Crookston, MN on December 8, 1943. After WWII, they settled in Milwaukee, WI, where he earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Marquette University. Jim and Anita raised five children while in Milwaukee and Appleton, WI. They moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1971. Jim was an avid traveler, stamp collector and award winning amateur photographer. He is survived by his devoted wife, sons Jim (Sue) Littleton, CO, Pete (Pat) Helena, MT, Paul (Barb) Littleton, CO, daughter Linda (Dave) Roberts Gardner, CO, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Mike on April 28, 1978. He also is survived by his brother Larry (Carolyn) Aurora, CO and his sister, Catherine (Alcides) Rodriguez-Nieto Oakland, CA. A private family memorial service was held. Cremation was July 28. Having a deep faith in God, Jim's wish would be that people say a prayer for him and his loving family. Donations may be made in Jim's name to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, CO.

Anita and family,
Paul called Bob and told him about Jim passing. I wanted to send my prayers and thoughts to all of you. It has been many years but the memories of couple's bowling, eating at George Webb's afterwards and being neighbors on Walden Avenue in Appleton came flooding back. What a peaceful, wonderful way to meet the Lord. Prayers go with you all.

I could always recognize Jim's voice when he called Ackley's Rocks and Stamps to speak to Mr. Ackley.
When he would come into the store, he would always call me by my name.
He was a nice man that will truly be missed!!!
Although I no longer work at the store, I will always have fond memories of the customers, and Jim most certainly is one of them.
God Bless you Jim, and your family!!!
With peace and love,
Karen Roth
