Alex Sedlak Obituary

Alex L. Sedlak, a lifetime resident of Colorado, died peacefully, with his family at his side, on June 9, 2005 at his home in Colorado Springs. He was born November 27, 1923, in Ramah, Colorado to Peter and Julia Sedlak. In 1951, he married Blanche Manyik and they would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this month. A hard worker, who was always lending a hand to family and friends, Alex was with Sinton Dairy for 34 years. His carpentry skills and love for tinkering found him in his garage or work shed daily, creating gadgets, fixing toys and bikes and building all kinds of stuff for his kids to enjoy. He loved sending time with family most, followed by baseball, football, gardening, watching TV and visits to his farm. In the summer, with his remarkable green thumb, he grew a garden that supplied his neighbors with all of the fresh produce they could fit in their arms. Alex was blessed with five children: Karen, Jane (Ron), Ray (Sue), Cindy (Peter) and John (Julie); 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Blanche; brother, Harry; sisters, Anne and Olga. We will miss his laughter, kindness, sense of humor and tight hugs. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2005 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:00 p.m. at Swan Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 13, 2005 at 10:00 a.m., St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Calhan, Colorado. Burial will be immediately following at St. Mary's Cemetery, Calhan.
