Anita "Nita" Stubblebine, retired elementary school teacher, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2021, at the age of 76 after recently being diagnosed with cancer. She spent the last week of her life visiting with family and friends, demonstrating incredible strength, courage, and wisdom.

Nita was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1945 to Kenneth and Erma Sween, and moved to Colorado Springs in 1953. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in teaching, she travelled to Europe and Russia on a study tour, which gave her a perspective of world cultures. Teaching young children was her passion. As a 2nd grade teacher at Falcon Elementary School for 25 years, she made an impact over a thousand children.

As a single mother for many years, she always put her children first, supporting them in their sports and passions, and constantly worrying about their well-being. She made friends everywhere she went and loved visiting with people. Her smile and laughter were contagious, and she was most often thinking about the needs of others.

She is survived by her sons Kipp and Dane, stepchildren Joanna and Todd, nine grandchildren, and three sisters Kathy, Susan and Carol. Her family and many friends will miss her dearly.

To my surprise today I found out that Nita passed away on Christmas Day. I am heartbroken. I realize I had not been in contact with her for a awhile...but had sent her Christmas cards but never heard back. I realize her health wasn't the best the last several years. For we had long conversations about our lymphadema issues. I felt so bad that she had so much trouble with it. We had so much fun together with Nita..Janie..and myself when she still lived in Bode. Those were such good memories I will always cherish..plus all our conversations these last few years. Will miss you Cousin. Say hi to my folks for me..

Anita was a dear childhood friend from living in Bode, a small town in Iowa, visiting her after the family moved to Colorado when we were both 16, seeing her many summers when she came back to Bode to visit her grandparents and relatives. We were always best buds, spending as much time as we could with the short moments we had growing up. After many years we reconnected in the late 90's, I visited in CO. with her several times and met her husband Bill. After she was widowed we communicated by phone and cards each year. It was always sweet reunions over the last few years. I am so sorry we did not get to see each other but am thankful for the long talks we had on the phone. I know we will see each other again in that great heavenly home the Lord has prepared for those of us who have put our trust in Him. I am sure Anita is with her Lord right now. Prayers for God's comfort to all the family members.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. I taught with Anita at Falcon Elementary. What a sweet and dedicated person she was. She didn't know a stranger. She was also a very dedicated and passionate teacher. Her real love was helping those students who struggled in reading as she knew that without the ability to read, they were not going to succeed. God bless her and her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and the many lives she affected both professionally and personally.
