Anthony D'Lallo Obituary

Tony was born February 1, 1930 in Holley, New York, the son of Anthony and Angelina D'Lallo. He was born during the Great Depression and it formed his standard throughout his life. At age 11, after his parents divorce, he and his mother moved to Richmond, California. He sold newspapers outside the gate of the Richmond Shipyards to help support his mother. He attended Richmond High School where he was a member of the HiWi all boys club and played on the school football team. After graduation he was drafted into the Army, but received an honorable medical discharge. He started working for Standard Oil Company of California and finished his career as a lab supervisor. In 1963 he married Priscilla Anderson Brennan. He also became an instant father to Margo Brennan. To this happy union came Marjorie, Robert, Megan, and Eric. He changed diapers, did laundry, and cooked rigatoni. Tony was a mother hen and whenever the children were sick, he was the one who took the late-night shifts. Outside work became Priscilla's specialty. What a team! Inside and outside well-covered. That lasted throughout out Tony's life. Tony was always devoted to his mother Angie, step-father, Joseph Simmons and little brother, John Joseph who died early in his life. He coached Little League and took many family vacations including trips to Disneyland and visiting relative in Minnesota. The D'Lallo's moved to Falcon, Colorado in 1998 because Tony wanted to be closer to his grandchildren. Tony requested they buy a big house because he was wishing the children and grandchildren would come to live. (Build it and they will come!) For a time Tony worked at the Woodman Hills Club House in Falcon, he loved that job, got to know everyone. An avid reader, he enjoyed mysteries, war stories, fiction and history. Some of his favorite authors included, Tom Clancy, John Grisham and Louis L'Amour. He was an avid walker. He enjoyed music including big band music, Perry Como, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra. He always said, “if you can't whistle the tune, it wasn't real music. Famous Tony quotes include: “If the kitchen sink is clean, the whole kitchen looks clean. “If the blankets are tucked in tight, it looks like a well made bed. “You throw spaghetti against the wall to see if it's done. If it sticks, it's not ready. Cook another 3 minutes. When Tony got Alzheimer's, his family learned to laugh at his imaginary friends and his new habits. He was loved and respected by his family, his co-workers, and friends. Tony will be missed as husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Anthony will be laid to rest May 14, 2010 at the Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito, California
