Benjamin Steiner Obituary

Benjamin Steven Steiner was born 28 years ago in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Ben attended Taylor Elementary School, Holmes Middle School, and Palmer High School. He sang in the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale for nine years. He earned a B.A. in Spanish from Concordia College in 2009. He attended First Lutheran Church and First Presbyterian Church, and he was a proud member of the First Presbyterian Young Adult Group. Ben was a person of true faith.

Ben was kind, patient, and courageous. He was a lifelong student, an adventurous chef, and a beautiful singer. He was a person of deep faith and thoughtfulness about life. He put himself out into the world fully, took risks, and did not shy away from a challenge. At his core, he was accepting of others, gentle, and at peace with the world.

Ben is loved and deeply missed by his mother Jeanne, his father Steven, his sister Logan, his brother-in-law David Smith, his grandfather Bob Schenk, and his many devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Children's Chorale to give young singers the same opportunity Ben had to belong to a community: Colorado Springs Children's Chorale, Ben Steiner Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 7841, Colorado Springs, CO 80933 (or call 719-633-3562).

Dear Jeanne,
Burns called and said he read about Ben in the paper. My heart breaks for you and Steve. I never had the honor of meeting Ben but if he's anything like you, I fully understand why the others wrote of a gentle, kind, and sweet soul. May God bless you with his peace and divine comfort.

Dear Steiner Family,
Ben was a patient I will always remember very fondly. He taught me so much about Spina Bifida. You, too, Jeanne made me get the books out and review the birth defect. I wish I could have been the dental hygienist of choice, but some other lucky person won out. I am grieving with you.
