Carol Nettles
October 15, 2023

Surrounded by family, Carol Lee Welden Nettles passed peacefully at home on October 15, 2023 at the age of 78.
She was born on November 23, 1944 to Captain Clark D. Welden and Mary E. Ivery. The middle child, she grew up in Anniston Alabama. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1967, she married Lt Thomas Nettles on September 3rd, 1967. Carol then received her teacher's certificate in 1972 from Jacksonville State University while her husband Tom was serving in Vietnam. Carol was a teacher for 20 years, living in many locations with her family as her husband served in the USAF.
Once they both were fully retired, they began traveling overseas. Often joined by friends, she and Tom visited 42 countries together. While at home, you could find Carol in her many flower gardens or active in church and neighborhood social functions.
Carol's strong Christian faith and contagious smile were her trademarks. She loved people and they loved her. She showed others how to lead a positive, joyful life and, in the end, how to pass on with unwavering faith and dignity.
Survivors include her husband (Tom) of 57 years, two children Ron Nettles (Kara) and Christa Klepper (Kevin), and brother Clark D. Welden (Linda).
She was proceeded in death by her father, mother and her older sister, Evelyn Deason.
Interment will be at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org).

Carol was my client for almost 30 years. We did so much sharing during this time and through many hairstyles. My favorite memories include these: Carol loved her family! Tom was always by her side and she shared the joys of watching Christa and Ronnie grow. She loved God. Carol loved fashion, gardening and her many clubs. The thing I will remember most is her smile. Even in hard times she always kept her smile. We´ll all miss that smile! Love you Carol

I had the great honor to walk most mornings with Carol. What and inspiring way to start the day! Her faith and optimism were inspirational to me. My daughter Merilee had pancreatic cancer as well and Carol and I would talk candidly about the symptoms they shared. Merilee passed away September 20,2023. Then my dear friend Carol passed away less than a month later. I am so blessed to have had them both in my life. They are in heaven watching over us now of that I am sure. My sincere condolences to the Nettles family. I loved her
