I am also a friend of Carolyn's from Sioux City. We sang together and we laughed together. I am remembering the funny things we used to do and am laughing right now as I am sure she is too. Mickey is right ... she is singing with the angels.

A beautiful person with a beautiful voice. Carolyn was a friend of mine since junior high school. We shared a lot of laughter and a lot of tears along life's way.

May you find peace and love, Carolyn. God speed, my friend.

I grew up with Carolyn in Sioux City, Iowa. We lived less than a block away from each other. I knew her brother Jim and mom. We graduated from Central High School. She was a sweet, life-loving woman with many talents. I know everyone who knew her will truly miss her. My sympathies and love to her friends and loved ones who grieve at this time.

To CC's family and friends...

I had the priviledge of meeting Carolyn and singing with her in Songspinner's when Claire Lortz was our director. I remember her being at my audtion and thinking what a lovely soprano voice. The year was January 1979 and I enjoyed singing with her and being her friend until about 1986 when I dropped out of Songspinner's. She was always so upbeat...friendly...so very pretty...and always a good sense of humor. Always had great ideas for choreography and our costumes. She also was a beautiful soloist with our singing group.

Songspinner's had a reunion in May of 2002 and this was the last time I saw CC. She was still bubbly and our "master of ceremonies"...telling everyone some of our fun times as Songspinners.

I didn't know she was ill at this time. She still had her special beauty.

May God bless her family now that she is absent here on Earth, but looking down from heaven.

Love,

Kathie McComb

I only met Carolyn on a few occasions but felt I knew her through her Daughters Mary and Barbara and her grandchildren all of whom frequently visited my late father-in-law, my mother-in-law and

Aunt Edna, my wife. The grandkids were always talking about "Mama CC".

When I met Carolyn I saw a warm loving person who was proud of her family and always willing to help them. She always maintained an unassuming dignity while making everyone who visited feel welcome. I was glad to see she passed peacefully in her sleep as this was fitting for her. The love and example she gave to her children will live on after her.

My memories of Carolyn are cherished ones beginning when I was about 13 years old. She was the nearest I had at the time to a sister and I was thrilled! Carolyn was an excellent cook. Orange juice was served to us only after it had been in the blender. This was my first experience having orange juice prepared in this way. She always had a way of preparing meals in a special way and setting the table with such elegance and everyone would feel so very special and like royalty! Carolyn loved to go shopping for clothes and shoes. She loved Russell Stover's candy and on some special occasions we would give her this as a gift. Carolyn sang in my childhood church choir when visiting us. The song I remember her singing is entitled "Oh Sacred Head, Now Wounded" of which she sang so beautifully! I will miss Carolyn greatly but will always cherish my memories of her!

Heaven does, indeed, have a voice like an angel now and I'm thankful to have sung with her. We sang in a group called "The Sleepheads" at First Methodist Church in Sioux City, Iowa. It was a privilege and an honor to know Carolyn!

Carolyn and I went to school together, from junior high through Central High. She had a wonderful singing voice, which she shared with us at reunions. She had a great sense of humor, too. I thought she grew up to be a neat lady, and I'll miss her.

To the most wonderful mother ever. We miss you more than words can say. Thank you for always loving us no matter what we were up to. For always forgiving us and always knowing the right thing to say. We really do not know what to do without you, our teacher, nurturer, leader, model, friend and what made us feel safe. We will remain a family and will always take care of each other. Thank you mom. We will try not to be lost without you. I hope we make you proud.

Carolyn and I were friends since early middle school. I was so sadden by her death. I cherished her laughter, wisdom and friendship. I knew this was coming, but such a loss is never easy to deal with. Reading all of the wonderful thoughts you all had of her, makes me realize how very very lucky I was to have her for a friend all of these years. Her influence on my life will not end with the end of her life, for she will be with me always as long as my memory is in tact. To her friends and family, I can only hope that the thoughts of others can help sustain you through this very tough time.

From the very first time I met her,I was always glad to have Carolyn in my life.

She was always warm and welcoming, and really made me feel as one of her family.

She had class and style, and the world will be a little less nice without her in it.

I know you will keep an eye on us, but we will always miss you mom.

Carolyn always made me feel welcome. She never criticized me or made me feel unimportant. Carolyn had a way of making everything perfect for us whenever we visited; she was always kind and thoughtful, putting everybody’s needs above her own. Carolyn was a gentle and loving mother who was always ready to sacrifice anything to ensure her children's needs were met. The world is just not the same without her. Carolyn, I love and miss you. How sad I was to see Carolyn's name today in the paper! What a sad, sad tragedy. Carolyn and I sang together in the "original" Song Spinners group. My memories of her were she was such a pretty girl, so talented and seemed to have everything she could ask for. She also had a cute sense of humor and was always playing tricks on people. Please know how sad I am for your loss and know that there is a "singing angel" up there! I'm just happy to have known her, if only for a short time. And to Ned, we are so sorry for your loss!
