Caylene Coston Obituary

Caylene Celeste Coston, 48, of Colorado Springs died on January 25 of complications from surgery. She was born in Pueblo, CO and graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder and her medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Following completion of her residency training in Emergency Medicine in Norfolk, VA, she returned to Colorado Springs to continue her medical practice in local hospital emergency departments. Her final place of employment was at Evans Army Hospital, Fort Carson, where she was very happy in anticipation of a permanent position. Caylene was a caring, loyal and honest woman who gave selflessly to others. She was known for being full of laughter at all times. She adored her family, loved her work, and enjoyed cultivating her many close friendships. She also was devoted to her beloved cat, Simon, and the other family pets that preceded him. She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Shirley Coston of Colorado Springs, her brother Edward and wife Tammy and nephews Michael, Steven, Brian and niece Katie of Tomball, TX and vicinity, and her brother Sean and wife Jennifer and nephews Joey and Jacob of Albuquerque, NM. Funeral services for Caylene will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, February 1, at the Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 East Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Coston family invites Caylene's friends to a reception following the service. So sorry to hear this. CAylene treated my son at Penrose Community for strep. I remembered her from Palmer and said "look at you, you're a doctor" to which she replied, "I would much rahter have what you have, a husband and son" She was so kind and caring. God bless her family.

We were so sorry to hear that Caylene had passed away from what we were always told she was caring, loving, and full of spirit and laughter, Even though we were not close as cousins should have been due to distance and other life's paths we all take We sometimes forget that the "TIME" is what we all should not take for granted. Things happen in our lives where we sometimes get side tracked on forgetting that our time on earth is limited and we are not promised another breath. Caylene had accomplished so much in her life, loving her family and friends, and just being her beautiful self, I do however wish we could have had closer relationship but it's not something we can take back now. I do think that everyone who knew and loved Caylene should learn some important lessons in her memory life is too short to sit and argue on petty things, family and friends are important, and make sure you tell the ones you love how much they mean to you cause in a split second you may not get that chance again. I love you Aunt Shirley and I will keep all of you our prayers, Love Aunt Barbara, cousins Waitman,Charlene and Minta.

It's been 33 years since I've heard Caylene's laugh or have seen her smile but as I look at her picture here today I can hear it and see it as though yesterday was just another day at North Junior High. Caylene's happy positive attitude was imparted on people she met and will continue to live on in those of us that had known her. Thank you for your gift Caylene.

Caylen, aka 'Scumbag' was one of my best childhood friends. We met playing soccer, became best friends riding horses every chance we got, and our friendship has lasted throughout the years. I will miss hearing her infectious laugh and seeing her beautiful smile. You're gone way too soon, my friend, and I'll miss you dearly. Love always, Kristen, aka 'Scumbab'

Caylene was a very special High School Friend. I have such wonderful memories of her; in fact, whenever a thought of high school comes to mind, Caylene is not far from those thoughts. I will miss Caylene. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

I met Caylene @ her mother's home and then again in the emergency room @ Penrose Main Hospital. My little grandson (who was a premature baby, coming into this world at 1 pound and 9 ounces) was sick. Her hugs, smile and upbeat attitude helped us all to get through a most stressful evening. She will be so missed. Her family are in our thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

I knew Caylene just prior to her entering med school, when I was working as a nurse and she was in the transport part of surgery. She ALWAYS had this wonderful smile and attitude that just made you enjoy being around her. Even when difficulties came up for her, she maintained such a positive attitude, that you knew she would succeed in her endeavors. And, she did. A tragic loss to the world is Heaven's gain----just far too soon.
My sincere sympaties to her family.
