Peacefully and surrounded by his family, Charles F. Bennett (Chuck) passed away on July 2, 2021 at age 89.

Chuck was born in Colorado Springs to Colorado Springs natives Gerald W. Bennett and Marka Webb Bennett (later Stewart). Chuck graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder, then served in the United States Army Military Police for two years before attending the University of California Hastings Law school in San Francisco. Chuck practiced law in Colorado Springs for more than thirty years.

Chuck is survived by his children Amanda Bennett, Jeff Bennett (Shannon), grandchildren Marin Bennett, Brady Bennett, and Savannah Bennett, and stepchildren Courtenay Mize, Laura Mize Benear, and Christopher Mize. He was predeceased by son Bill Bennett, a daughter Nina Bennett who died at birth, and his brother Jerry Bennett.

Chuck was very active in the community, and among his many volunteer experiences, Chuck served as President of the El Paso Bar Association, President of the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, the Chairman of the Board of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and Director of the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center.

Chuck loved golf and was the oldest tenured member in the history of the Broadmoor Golf Club, having joined when he was 17. He was a member of both the Broadmoor Golf Club for 72 years and the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club for 54 years. He also enjoyed tennis, running, fishing, walking his dogs around the resevior, and playing squash. Chuck was well known for his lively wit, great sense of humor, and the immense love he had for his family.

Chuck treasured Amanda and Jeff who, in turn, loved every minute they spent with him. He was devoted to the love of his life of almost thirty years, Kristen Freeland.

Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Abbott Lane, as he loved every four-legged creature he met. A private celebration of life will be held per his request.
