Charles Wilson Obituary

Charles Joseph Wilson, 69, passed away April 7, 2012 after a short illness. Chuck was a beloved husband and father who, "never had an unkind word to say about anyone," says his wife of 15 years, Ann Wilson. He never knew the impact he had on people's lives until streams of co-workers flooded his hospital room with words of praise and admiration for him. "I just went to work and did my job," he would say, but it was so much more. Chuck will be remembered for the kind and loving man he was and his willingness to do anything for his family. A native to the Colorado Springs area, Chuck was born November 12, 1942 and raised in the Fountain Valley area on the family dairy farm. He attended Widefield High School and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He worked at Schriever Air Force Base as a contractor for 22 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Wilson; his daughters: Rebecca (Dennis) Chambon and Deborah (Jason) Queen; his step-daughters: Lynette (Kelly) Colyer and Tanya (Donald) Dowd; his brothers: James (Betsy) Wilson, David (Sarah) Wilson, Samuel (Dru) Wilson, and Michael (Karen) Wilson; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mildred Wilson, and his brother, Howard Wilson. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. A luncheon reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven. The family requests that memorials in Chuck's name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903 or at www.pikespeakhospice.org. To the Wilson family,
I recently found out of Chuck's (Mr. Wilson, as I always called him) passing. I met Mr. Wilson in the summer of 1990 at Falcon Air Force Station. He was a man of few words, but always a gentleman. Always said good morning and always ready to work. Good person, good worker and a loss to us all. Mr. Wilson, I hope you're at peace knowing the positive impact you had on many folks.

Ann, my condolences to you and your family. Chuck could always be counted on when times were tough and will sorely be missed. I had the pleasure of working with him for our support teams for 15 years, and I was always impressed by his soft-spoken knowledge of assets available to achieve our missions.
