Clifton Rich Obituary

Doug was born on June 9, 1955 at Camp Pendleton, California to Clifton and Mary (Ring) Rich. In 1958 he moved with family to Princeton, New Jersey. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 1965. Doug graduated from Palmer High School in 1973. He spent 5 years working at the Whitco Company while also spending 2 years at the community college. Then he went on to almost thirty years in the construction industry. Doug loved the mountains, and spent his younger years climbing fourteeners, usually with his dog, Shonka. In later years, he and a friend spent time chasing tornadoes on the eastern plains. Doug married Michele Watson Rich in 1994, who survives him. He is also survived by his mother; two sisters: Carol Mulson of Edwards, Colorado, Catherine Conger of Colorado Springs; and one brother, Daniel J. of New York City. He is also survived by 5 uncles, 6 aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews and in-laws he was very fond of. Doug will be cremated and his ashes scattered in the mountains. There will be a memorial gathering in Memorial Park on Sunday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m.
