Dale Duane Olson, 88, of Colorado Springs went to be with the Lord November 4, 2024.
Dale was born March 19, 1936, to Walter and Minnie Olson in Duluth, Minnesota. He was the 2nd of 4 children to older sister Beverly (Olson) Peterson, and younger siblings Susan (Olson) Buffin and Curtis Olson. Dale graduated from Barnum High School in 1954. Dale joined the Army National Guard and trained at White Sands Missile Base in New Mexico. While in the Guard, Dale went on to attend St Paul Bible College (now Crown College). There, with God as his guide, he met the love of his life, Marilyn (Hanson) Olson. They were drawn together by a mutual love of Jesus Christ and married in Fertile, Minnesota on December 7, 1957.
The young couple settled in Barnum, Minnesota and built a home near Sandy Lake on 60 acres Dale's parents gifted them. Soon they were joined by a squadron of boys, Daniel, Gary, Trevor, and Troy. In 1973 Dale and Marilyn moved their family to Colorado Springs. They were active in local churches as Dale served as usher and Deacon and construction advisor on building a new church in Colorado Springs. Dale loved the beautiful Colorado weather and loved living near the mountains.
Splitting their later years between Colorado and Mesa, Arizona, Dale and Marilyn loved the comfortable mountain summers in Colorado Springs and the warmer winters in Mesa. He had many friends in Mesa and loved the activities their winter home provided, including swimming, board and lawn games, Sunday socials after church and visiting with his many precious nieces and nephews that call Arizona home. Dale cherished time with his family. They loved fishing, camping, road trips, and card games. Dale was tirelessly supportive of his boy's sports and activities, attending any game, competition or event he could. As a Grandfather, Dale continued that tradition by cheering on his grandchildren.
Dale worked as a carpenter for over 40 years. Through his hard work ethic, he taught his family how to love and have compassion for life, friends, our country and those less fortunate. A long-time supporter of Samaritan's Purse, Dale and Marilyn supported many local charities through donations of treasure and time.
Dale was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marilyn, his father and mother Walter and Minnie Olson, his sister Beverly Peterson, his grandson Jared Olson, and his granddaughter Courtney Wilkinson. Dale is survived by his sons and their wives, Daniel (Angie), Gary (Patty), Trevor (Lisa), and Troy (Rebecca) Olson, his sister Susan (Olson) Buffin, brother Curtis and his wife Jane Olson, his granddaughters Tiffany Ingraham, Kassie Hoover, Kristin Weissinger, Mallory Hoover, Gianna Olson, Francesca Olson, and Regan Olson, his grandsons Vince Hoover, Lee Olson, Alexander Olson, Seth Olson, Tanner Olson, Jack LaPiano, and Nick LaPiano, his great-grandsons Westley Ingraham, Ryker Olson, Luca Melton, Kasen Phillips, and Silas Olson; and his great-granddaughters Kailyn Ingraham, Lillian Olson, Phoebe Melton, and Kaia Phillips. Dale also had many, many treasured nieces and nephews.
