Daniel Gieck Obituary

Daniel Dennis Gieck passed away April 14, 2018 from prostate and liver cancer with his family at home.
Dan was born on November 10, 1946 to Doris and Dewey Gieck in Colorado Springs, CO. Dan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Jalinda Gieck, a daughter, Danella Gieck, a son, Danny Gieck (Angela) four grandchildren, Britnie, Daniel (Jessica), Brad, Ashley Rees (Nick) and five great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Also by his brother Sam Gieck (Marcia) and sister Candy Gum (JayA).
Dan graduated from Harrison high school in 1964 where he excelled in athletics. He went on to Mesa Jr. College for one year. After that he went to work for Colorado Springs Utilities in the Electric Department and retired in 2002 as a Field Engineer Supervisor with 37 years of service.
Dan's life was focused on his family and that was his #1 priority. He loved racing motorcycles, fast-pitch softball, golf, hunting, car shows and going to breakfast with his best friend Karl. Dan always loved taking vacations and he had the opportunity to travel many beautiful places with his wife Jalinda. Dan also spent many years coaching football with his son and had the opportunity to coach his grandson, truly a great family experience.
Dan will be truly missed by his family and friends. His blue eyes and smile will forever be remembered when you look at the blue skies of Colorado.

Jalinda,
Sorry I'm late with this note. Have been out of town just returning late yesterday. As noted by several others, I worked with both you and Dan. That made it doubly tough to hear of his passing. Dan was one of those solid rocks that everyone could count on. He was straight forward, professional and willing to help anyone that asked.
I am very fortunate to have known and worked with him.

To Dan's family,
I worked with Dan at Csu for many years. He was the operator on the "boom truck" where I started(my first boss).I also worked on his crew installing the underground electric. I learned a lot from Dan and enjoyed his company. Reb

Jalinda, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Dan's straight talk was always appreciated. If something was wrong, Dan would speak honestly about it. I always liked Dan's expression and his laugh, when the situation turned funny. Dan was a great teacher when I was first leaning to ride dirt bikes. I miss Dan.

Danny, Sam, sorry to read of your loss. Last time I saw Dan was at Soil Savers. Always pleasant to chat with even in the days when he had an opinion regarding softball and the leagues. My thoughts are with you all.

Jalinda and Family, my deepest sympathy for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Dan for many years at CSU but I truly treasure the few times I was able to play golf with Him. Dan had an amazing sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Dear Gieck Family:
It was my pleasure to work with Dan at Colorado Springs Utilities before I retired in 1993. I watch Dan and his brother Sam play many fastpitch softball games in Colorado Springs and tournaments in Colorado. Sorry for your loss.
