Daniel Kammer Obituary

Daniel Joseph Kammer, 69, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1978 and formerly of Denver passed away on July 16, 2010. Dan was born August 23, 1940, in Topeka, KS to Martin and Mary (Roth) Kammer, and was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Regis University in 1963. He married his wife, Joann, on June 21, 1969, in Jetmore, KS. He was employed for 30 years with Colorado Compensation Insurance Authority; after retirement he worked at CoWest Insurance and had a consultant business, AICC. As a faithful man with a deep appreciation for the love and grace of God, Dan reached out to the community through involvement with pro-life activities and prison ministry. He made new friends everywhere he went, and many of them became lifelong friends. He loved spending time with his sons, grandchildren, family, and friends; and greatly enjoyed being at the family cabin in the mountains of Colorado. He will be best remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and love of talking to people about what was important to him. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Joann, of Colorado Springs; son Stephen Kammer (Kendra) and grandchildren, Owen and Teo, of Colorado Springs; son Gregory Kammer of Fort Collins, Colorado; and sister, Jeannette Biondi, of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Victor and Paul Kammer, and nephew John Kammer. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful� Chapel. The Rosary and Remembrances will follow the visitation in the Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday July 23, at the “America the Beautiful� Chapel. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery; a luncheon reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Boulevard.
