Jaci,
We are thinking of you. I'm so glad we got to make the Dr. Pepper cake together for Danny's birthday and celebrate a little with him. Take care and talk with you soon.

I've told my kids and husband stories about "Danny Matney" many, many, times. He was my very best friend from about 15-18 (years old). He's the guy I road dirtbikes with (along with my boyfriend at that time...who was Danny's best friend). We'd meet up under the tree at Russ's Farm Market and head on out, where there were no paths to follow other than the ones we cut for ourselves.
Danny was always coming to give me a ride on his 750 Norton...just because he knew I loved to ride. We would ride, and laugh, and then ride some more.
His obit probably shows one of the other reasons we were such good friends...he has two dogs "of the home." We were such animal lovers...almost to a fault. We also loved the outdoors...The worst chigger bites I ever had in my life were after a camp out that Danny thought we should have. Even at that time, I knew it probably wasn't a great idea, but he assured me there would be no bugs around and I believed him.
Of course, our lives went on, we grew apart. But Danny has been living in my heart for a looooonnng time, and will continue to do so. I'm not surprised at all to read that he became a "mountain man" and continued to help others.
Jaci, what a lucky woman you were to spend these precious years with him. He was/is truly a special person. I'm sure Moonie and Ajax will help to comfort you.
Clyde & Irene...I knew you'd raised a special son...since about 1970. Back when Danny & Larry & I knew EVERYTHING and needed no parental advice. :) Thanks for letting us all grow up in a way that made us better people. Kids just don't get the opportunity to grow up "safe" the way we did.
Danny, it's been my pleasure to call you my friend. Couldn't have done teenage years without you. Love ya...Sharon

Jaci, I remember you from working in the office of the Ins Comm, in the legal dept., in the mid-70s. I also remember when you met Danny & how truly in love you were - didn't you print your own wedding invitations - long before it was done that way?
I am so sorry for your loss. My husband & I also share our love with 2 wonderful dogs that go everywhere with us so I can truly relate to your devotion to them.
My deepest sympathy to you & your family - I know your pets will be of much comfort to you in the days & weeks ahead.

I used to work with Danny, a/k/a "Mad Dog" years ago at the General Foods plant. I have many fond memories of him and of my time at GF.
My sympathies go out to his friends and family at your loss, and may Danny Rest In Peace in God's loving embrace.
