Delbert Eugene Smith left this world to be present with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 6, 2021. He passed away due to heart failure at the age of 93. He entered this world on March 25th, 1928.

He served two years in the Naval service. He married Norma Jean Humes on September 2, 1950, in Salina Kansas. They had four daughters, and one son.

He is preceded in death by his oldest daughter Wava Smith. He is survived by his wife Norma Smith; his sister Dee (Don) Rathbun; sister-in-law Betty (Manning) Smith; his daughters Linda (Jim) Tolan, Mary (John) Welter, Joyce (Jeff) Kohlmeyer, and his son David (Sandy) Smith. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Alicia (Rory) Parker, Andrea Tolan, Catherine and Elizabeth Welter, Eric and Ethan Kohlmeyer; his great grandchildren Harper Gatchel, James, and Scarlett Parker, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

His favorite saying was "give us a call when you get home." Delbert was a warehouseman at the Air Force Academy until his retirement at age 86. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we rejoice knowing we will be reunited with him in the future.

There will be a viewing at Evergreen Funeral Home, 1830 E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910 on Thursday, July 15, 2021, from 5-7 PM. The Celebration of Life will be at Mesa Hills Bible Church, 615 W. Uintah Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80905 on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 1 pm with burial to immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.

In lieu of flowers, Delbert wanted Memorial Donations to be given to "Whispering Winds" Campground with Bible Impact Ministries.

I did not know Uncle Delbert very well. What I do know is that his children are kind, thoughtful, and loving. He and Aunt Norma raised a beautiful family who love the Lord. That is a wonderful legacy, and my prayers are with all of you.
