Dennis Bruns Obituary

Dear Bruns Family,



I grieve with you in your loss but rejoice that we will meet Dennis again when we are called home to the Lord.



I will remember Mr. Bruns for being a kind, wise, and strong man of God who encouraged and challenged all of us at ECA.



I will not forget the help and encouragement that both Dennis and Alan Bruns gave me while in high school and in college. Thank you for blessing me and so many others!

Coach Bruns, I extend my gratitude towards you for the things you did for me as a young man. As my cross country and track coach at Lamar, as a disciplinarian to an unruly teenager, and mostly as a surrogate father in a time of need. You taught me what it takes to be an athlete, you encouraged me to go to college, and you were a perfect role model of how to be a good family man. My thoughts and prayers are with you Mrs. Bruns and your family. Your husband had a great role in many peoples lives, a great family, and many friends. I can only hope to be anything like him.

Dear Doris and family,

We were shocked to learn of Dennis' death. He was a real friend and colleague during our Lamar days. We appreciated his Christian lifestyle and friendship. You'll never know how much it meant to us to have Dennis and Doris show up in Manhattan two weeks ago to join in our 50th wedding celebration. What a wonderful surprise!! It is something we will always remember and cherish, especially the hugs.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you and will continue with you in the days and weeks ahead.

Mr. Bruns had a huge impact on my life. Who can forget his "no pain, no gain" motto!!! He was an amazing educator, coach, and person. He will be truly missed.

Coach Bruns was an amazing man and a tremendous influence on Andy and his friends. I am comforted by the fact that he is playing hoops in Heaven. I am grateful for the time God allowed him to be here. My family and friends were blessed by his Christian witness, his love and dedication to the students and the demonstration of love to his wife and family. Thank you for allowing others to share your husband, father and grandfather. God bless you!

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Bruns family, especially Ashley. She is a dear, sweet young lady, and it is my pleaseure to know her.

Aimee, Don, Brandon, and Jordon, I am so sorry for the loss of your father/grandfather. Through the years, I have enjoyed Aimee's fun stories of her dad's dedication to coaching. May the Holy Spirit comfort you as you are grieving.

(Dennis) Coach Bruns had quite an impact on my life during the period he taught and coached at LHS. I believe that his influence encouraged me to be a better bus driver. He may have never know that he played a big part in me becoming an

activity driver. He was always one of my favorite coaches and made each trip enjoyable. In fact I think Dennis Bruns was a hero to a lot of students, staff as well as his fellow coaches. His continuing dedication to student achievement was phenmonal. He was a kind and caring gentleman, and I will miss his words of encouragement and concern. May God be with you, Doris, Amy and Alan and your families. I know Dennis loved his family dearly as he spoke of you often. Much Love Sheila and Alex
