Donn Bair Obituary

Donn, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, died suddenly while working on April 3, 2014. He was the youngest of six children born to Willis and Marjorie Bair on July 10, 1951.

Growing up, Donn had fond memories of his childhood on the west side of Colorado Springs where he resided until his death. He graduated from Palmer High School ('69) and Western State College ('73).

Donn spent most of his life working in property maintenance and management. He loved working with his hands and spending time in his yard. He will be remembered by his family, friends, and employers for his exceptional work ethic.

Donn was an avid sports fan and long-time season ticket holder for CC Hockey. He particularly enjoyed eating good breakfasts, salsa, and green chili. Donn was a regular reader of newspapers and always had multiple copies of the Independent and Westside Pioneer close by.

Those closest to him will remember Donn for his courage and determination, and his unique sense of humor will be especially missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his children, Joe Bair and Mary Lew Bair, sister Patricia Johnson, sister Linda Caldwell (Glenn), brother Dennis Bair, sister Kerry Bair, sister Joan George (Sam), and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Bair and Marjorie Carlson, a brother in law Bill Johnson, and a nephew Benjamin George.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Historic Community Congregational Church, 103 Pawnee Ave, Manitou Springs, Colorado 80829 with Rev. David Hunting officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Community Center or Boys & Girls Clubs of Colorado Springs.

Donn, I can't believe you are gone. I just found out and it was too late to attend your services. You have touched my heart in so many ways over the years. From Kindergarten until recently we have been friends. Thank you for talking to me so many times and getting me back on the right emotional track. I love how you always made me feel special. Who am I going to talk to at King Soopers now? We called that our social hour. I will miss you so much.
I will pray for your family that they can get through this trying time. You will be truly missed. Love you! Vicki Schneider (Lee)

Joe and family, please accept my sincere sympathy. Your Dad and I reconnected from our high school days by talking Tiger Hockey at the games and at the grocery store. He was a good guy and will be missed.

Your Friend, Forever and Always

April 10, 2014

Donn, you are an important man...a very important man. You are important to me. You have taken care of my family and I for over a decade. You are important to your residents. You kept them safe, welcomed them every morning, and enjoyed the treats they cooked for you. You are important to your family...they are so proud of who you are. You are important to your church, who you gave so much. You are important to your many friends and the hundreds of people you helped out, because you could do what they could not.
You have left a big hole in our lives, my friend. God Bless.

Don was the Maintenance Manager of the Apartment Complex i live at. Right from the very beginning of moving here, don was always there, with a warm smile that would light up the room that he was in. His unique sense of humor was a welcome to every room he entered. Don will be missed dearly, and his humor none the less. May you RIP don, as heaven needs and deserves another angel exactly like you my friend. I am praying for your family and friends who all have known you. God needs you home now.

The world is a little quieter and more empty now. You were a good friend, and will be truly missed by all who knew you. Rest in peace. Oh, by the way, I found the missing laundry quarters. ;)
