Donna was born to Donald M. and Yolande (Bunny) Anderson April 1, 1943, in Fallon, Nev. She died December 26, 2025, at home in Florissant, CO. Donna lived in Gabbs, Nev. With her parents and sisters for the first five years of her life. The family moved to Luning, Nev., where she attended the one-room Luning School through the eighth grade. Donna then went to live with her grandparents in Yerington, Nev., because her parents did not want her to have the long bus ride to Hawthorne each day. She graduated from Yerington High School with honors. After attending the University of Nevada for year, she returned to Luning and worked in in Gabbs for Basic, Inc., becoming re-acquainted with her future husband, George Buffington. They were married Feb. 22, 1963m and lived in Mina, Nev., for 28 years for 28 years, raising their children Kelly and Donna there. Donna was active in the community, volunteering with the fire department, decorating cakes for all occasions, crocheting or knitting baby blankets and afghans for newborns, graduations and wedding gifts, aiding in the Mina school and being a friend to all. She was a relief driver for the school bus to Hawthorne, where she became an aide in the elementary schools. She always said she enjoyed helping the ornery little boys.
She was initiated into the International Order of Rainbow for Girls in Yerington where she served as Worthy Advisor. On her 18th birthday she was initiated into the Order of Eastern Star, holding several offices. She was a Grand Representative to Georgia and Grand Marshal for the Eastern Star in Nevada. Donna and George moved to Florissant in 1991 and Donna began driving a school bus in Cripple Creek and working as an aide and reading specialist in the elementary school.
Donna spent days exploring the Nevada deserts and Colorado mountains with George. Donna is survived by her husband of 63 years, George Buffington; and their son Donald and grandson Ryan Warden. Their daughter Kelly died in 1998. Her sisters, Shirley Williams, and Carol Drawver, along with several nieces and nephews. Her knowledge and love of family is greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held this spring in Mina.
