Donna Zeller Obituary

Donna Jean Zeller died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 20, 2015. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 29 at Iles Funeral Homes - Dunn's Chapel, Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be Noon Wednesday, December 30 at the Basilica of St. John, Des Moines.

Donna was born in Sac City, IA on July 5, 1928 to Alvin and Beulah Wolf. She was raised in Lytton, IA with her older brother, Calvin and sister, Wilma. She graduated from high school at age 16. She attended the University of Minnesota and Drake University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. While at Drake she met and fell in love with Robert (Bob) Zeller. After graduation, she and Bob were married at the Basilica of St. John, Des Moines in 1949. They settled in Bedford, IA where Bob owned the Dad & Lad Clothing Store until 1959. The Zellers then moved to Des Moines where they lived for the next 30 years raising their children.

In 1989 Bob and Donna relocated to Colorado Springs, CO where Bob's career with Woodford Mfg took them. Donna loved Colorado and cherished her friendship with Linda and Joe Woodford. She thoroughly enjoyed entertaining her grandchildren at 'the condo', taking them on side trips to Seven Falls, Garden of the Gods and Santa Claus Land.

She was an avid card player, whether playing Bridge with her Delta Gamma sisters or playing 'Goose Egg' with her family. There was rarely a day when she did not do the daily crossword puzzle in the paper. Donna loved to travel and fondly reminisced about her trips to Austria, England, Russia and the French Riviera.

Donna had a special gift with her smile and kindness. Her heart was always full with the love she felt for her family. Nothing meant more to her than her loved ones.

Donna is survived by her brother, Calvin Wolf of Washington, IA; her sons, Robert (Susie) Zeller of Ballwin, MO, Tom Zeller of Dallas, TX and Paul (Jane) Zeller of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Mary Lynn (Fred) Grask of Cedar Rapids, IA; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Tim) Davila, Allison (Todd) Wallace, Lauren (Andrew) Fletcher, Connor (Molly Brigge) Grask, Max Zeller, Devin Zeller, Sam Zeller, Griffin Zeller, Mason Zeller and Hayden Zeller; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Davila, Isabelle Davila and Oscar Wallace.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Beulah Wolf; her sister, Wilma Butler; her husband, Robert Zeller and infant son, James Zeller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Boys Town, Omaha, NE.
