Doris Grimm passed away on March 3, 2022 at Brookdale Skyline in Colorado Springs where she resided for the last 11 years. She was born May 9, 1922 in a farm home near Stromsburg, Nebraska to Raymond W Rystrom and Ethel C Rathkey. She had fond memories of taking care of the chickens and feeding the cats on the farm and trekking through the snow to the one room school house she attended for 8 years. She graduated from Stromsburg HS in 1939 as valedictorian. She then attended the University of Nebraska, followed by Iowa State University where she earned a BS degree in Home Economics Education. Her teaching career included teaching home economics and biology at Parkersburg HS and Jesup HS in Iowa.

On July 30, 1950 Doris was united in marriage to John Ott Grimm. They made their home in Denver, Colorado and were married for 68 years. Doris was a community contributor. She was an active member of Warren United Methodist Church and a Scout Leader. Doris loved sewing and gardening and was especially proud of her peonies.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her 2 brothers and her husband, John. She was a loving and attentive mother and grandmother. She is survived by her 4 children: Roger (Arlynn) Grimm (Livermore, CA), Karen (Lionel) Lucero (Albuquerque, NM), Linda (Tom) Willits (Aurora, CO), Rebecca (Al) Wegner (Colorado Springs, CO); 7 grandchildren: Christine, John, Becky, Tina, Belinda, Sydney and Spencer and 9 great grandchildren.
