Eva Vigil Obituary

Eva Vigil, 77, entered eternal life and the Kingdom of Her Savior Lord Jesus Christ on March 20, 2007. She died while under the professional and compassionate care of the staff at Pikes Peak Care Center in Colorado Springs. Daughter of deceased parents Eloy Arellano and Luz Santisteven Arellano, she held many titles as daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, but most of all a woman of faith knowing she was saved by God's eternal love and her relationship with Jesus Christ. In December of 1946 she married Arturo Norman Vigil, the man who would become her faithful and loving husband of fifty years until his death on March 22, 1996. Together in marriage Arturo and Eva Vigil enjoyed the blessings of many children: Mary Ann (Daniel) Tafoya of Del Norte, Colorado, Olga L. Vigil of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Nancy R. (Rudy) Martinez of Greeley, Colorado, Frederick Christopher (Anna) Vigil of Phoenix, Arizona, Steve Leroy (Ana) Vigil of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ernesto Norman Vigil and Michael William Vigil of Colorado Springs. She is preceded in death by infant son Anthony Vigil and Larry Amos Vigil who died in June 1979 in a drowning accident in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Eva's greatest tragedy was having to bury an infant son and her son Larry who was in his senior year of college at the time of his accidental death. Eva received the blessings of thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren who provided an endless source of love and respect. Eva is also survived by Sista Atencio her sister of Leadville, Colorado, who also provided a great source of love and admiration as sisters have and share. Eva was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Remijio Arellano, Erminio (Herman) Arellano, and Eliasim (Sim) Arellano. Other survivors include a large number of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, friends of her immediate and extended family. Eva's children also thank her for the many acts of unselfish love and precious gifts of knowing what hard work is, the value of an education, the worth of friends and how they enrich our lives, of how to share with others especially those less fortunate, of teaching her children to have empathy and compassion for others, of maintaining a loving relationship with God, and how to pray, especially how to pray. Eva lived for her family and for all individuals who touched her life with a warm smile and a kind act. Eva will be eternally loved and missed for all ages. A rosary will be held on Sunday, at 4:00 p.m., at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 26, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave. Colorado Springs, with burial to will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
