Frank Shroeder Obituary

Frank Schroeder passed away on July 2, 2011. He was born on November 26, 1934 in Peotone, Illinois. He married Del Schroeder on September 8, 1956. They made their first home in Greeley, Colorado where Frank continued his college education. They moved to Colorado Springs after his college graduation where they lived and worked for the next 53 years. Frank was an educator of Special Needs children and an administrator of these programs for School District 11 for 33 years. He was active in numerous sports and charitable organizations. Frank was especially active in the Knights of Columbus, the Elks Club, and as a Eucharistic volunteer with both hospitals and his church. Out of high school he was drafted as a catcher with the St. Louis Cardinals and Cleveland Indians, played semi-pro football in Chicago, and bowled professionally. Secretly, he wished to race the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, but was known to have made several rapid accents and descents of the mountain during his eleven years as a deputy sheriff. Frank was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. Frank is survived by his four children, Charles (Cathy) Schroeder, Michelle (Kevin) Doyle, Stephen (Carol) Schroeder, and Melissa (Karl) Bleser. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher and Jeffrey Schroeder, Sarah and Isaac Bleser, and Liam and Ryan Doyle. A visitation is on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Swan-Law Funeral Director's with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 7, 2011, 10:00 a.m. Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2318 N. Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Poor Mr. Schroeder. Mrs. Schroeder and I would band together and pick on him and he never had a chance!! But he loved every minute of it!! The house they owned on Ute Street will "always" be theirs--no matter who bought it. I miss them so much!!

Mr. Schroeder went about this world bringing humor and joy to all those he encountered. I am very privileged to have known him. He is, no doubt, reunited with his dear wife Del, and they will spend Eternity exploring the wonders of Heaven. May we all be as loved and missed as the Schroeders. God bless his family during this time of loss. Love, Peggy

Allow me to extend my deepest sympathies to Frank's family. He and I shared the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion ministry at Memorial Hospital Central. He was a delightful man, and I will miss him very much.

I was saddened to read about Frank in today's paper and extend my deepest sympathy to his family. Ironically it was 34 years ago this month that Frank hired me to work as a speech-language pathologist for Colorado Springs School District 11. I know that the legacy he leaves is remembering how he treated all of those who worked for him with the utmost respect. He was an administrator that was approachable and always available for support. I attended his retirement party where he was given a lovely gold watch with an inscription that touched him deeply. The many people who attended his celebration spoke volumes of how kind he was to those he worked with and supervised. You did leave a lasting legacy Frank; thank you.
