Gennaro "Frank" Occhiuzzo, aged 93, of Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024. He was born in Carlstadt, New Jersey, on February 11, 1931, to Joseph and Lena Occhiuzzo and grew up in a large Italian family.
Frank was a man of honor and dedication, epitomized by his over two decades of service in the United States Army, with distinguished postings in Germany, Vietnam, and throughout the United States. His service to his nation was a profound chapter in his life of which he remained justifiably proud.
Upon his honorable discharge, Frank transitioned to civilian life first working for the United Sates Army as a master mechanic and thereafter as an enterprising business owner of three service stations. Frank's service to his fellow veterans continued through his involvement with the Disabled American Veterans, where he worked tirelessly to support his fellow veterans.
His deep faith was reflected in his long-standing role as a Deacon at Southside Bible Chapel, where he shared his love of the Lord and his gift of fixing things.
Frank's leisure time was often spent fishing, or in his garage, tinkering with engines, both of which brought him great joy and satisfaction. His mechanical talents were well-known and appreciated by those around him. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy and purpose in the challenges of mechanics and the serenity of nature.
He is survived by his wife, Kumeko, his siblings Joel and Irene, his children Esther, Joseph, and Anthony, his stepchildren Ples, John, Elizabeth, and Donna, as well as 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with 5 step-grandchildren. Preceding him in passing were his parents and his sister Clara.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a graveside service to celebrate Frank's life, to be held at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO, on July 12 at 10:30 am.

Frank and Kumeko are 2 of the kindest, sweetest people I met in my career. Think of them often. Frank was so proud of his family. It was a real pleasure to know you Frank.
