Helen VonGunden

Helen VonGunden passed away peacefully in her sleep at her family home, at the age of 82.
Born in 1941 in Brooklyn NY as an only child, she was baptized and raised Catholic while attending Catholic school until graduation. She moved away once she met her future husband Donald, and toured the world as a military wife. After having two sons (Eric and Keith) the family settled in Colorado Springs in the late 80s. During this time she worked for such companies as DEC\Digital Equipment Corp, Compaq and HP until her retirement. Helen was very active with travel, genealogy, AARP and after Don's passing, the Society of Military Widows.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her two sons Eric and Keith, grandchildren Kayla, Sierra, Kaleb, Amber, RJ and great-grand kids Jackson, Simon, Carmen and Clay.
There will be a funeral service held for Helen on July 27th 11:30am at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church in Black Forest. Please feel free to attend if you would like to pay your respects.

I'm so sad to hear of Helen's passing. We hadn't heard from her in awhile. She is missed. I will always remember the great time we had with her. And her telling us about our family genealogy. It was great to know about the family history. My deepest condolences to her family.

I knew Helen and Don from Heidelberg in 1967,68. We hung out together and saw each other a few times when they would visit Buffalo. Every year a Christmas card. I am so sorry. Helen was a gem.

I was so very sorry to hear of Helen's passing! I worked with her at DEC for many years and she became a dear friend to me and to many. She never said 'no' to any request and followed through exquisitely. She will be missed tremendously! My sincere condolences to her sons and their families.
