Hunter Van Kooten Obituary

Hunter Michael Van Kooten, 17, of Monument, Colorado, died on April 22, 2017 in Peyton, Colorado. He was a student at Lewis-Palmer High School.

He was born on September 12, 1999 to Brent and Robyn York in Stuttgart, Germany. On December 11, 2008, he was adopted by Sherwin Van Kooten.

Hunter enjoyed archery, hunting, fishing, and animals. He always had a smile on his face and had the most gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by the family Vizslas, Gunnar, Deuce, and Kimber.

Hunter is survived by his father and mother, Sherwin and Robyn Van Kooten of Monument, Colorado; brothers, Jason (Kelli) and Sean Van Kooten of Peyton, Colorado; grandmothers, Ruth Van Kooten of Denver, Colorado and Joan McDonald of Cheyenne, Wyoming; aunts and uncles, Sheryl (Steve) Vriesman of Denver, Colorado, Sheila (Troy) Howell, also of Denver, and Kelly (Chris) Townsend of Wellington, Colorado; a niece, Jaycee Van Kooten of Peyton, Colorado; and his many cousins, Joshua (Allison) Vriesman of Fishers, Indiana, Jessica (Aaron) Van Dam of Denver, Colorado, Jacob (Abby) Vriesman of Jenison, Michigan, Natalie Ballentine of Fort Collins, Colorado, Nathan Ballentine of Bombay, Florida, and Jordan (Megan) Howell, Justin Howell, Jackson Howell, and Jayden Howell, all of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ron Van Kooten of Denver, Colorado and Don McDonald of Casper, Wyoming; his great-grandmother, Marie Cottrill of Butte, Montana; and his aunt, Sharon Ballentine of Denver, Colorado.

Visitation, 4:00PM-7:00PM, Thursday, April 27, 2017 at The Springs Funeral Services-North, 6575 Oakwood Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80923.

Funeral Service, 10:00AM, Friday, April 28, 2017 at Woodmen Valley Chapel, Rockrimmon Campus, 290 East Woodmen Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80919.

Interment to immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.

Hunter was such a joy to have for 3 years in my classes at Lewis-Palmer. I will never forget his sweet smile. My prayers are that God will give his family the peace that passes all understanding in dealing with their loss. He is truly missed by his Ranger family.
