Lt. Colonel Jack Maurice Beringer, US Army, Retired, passed away on March 21, 2007 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jack was born on 6 September 1928 at Trippler General Hospital, Honolulu, Hawaii. His parents were Colonel Lester E. and Winifred Rothrock Beringer. He graduated from Longmont High School, Longmont, Colorado in 1945. At age 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for two years. He returned to Colorado Springs, and attended Colorado College for one year before receiving his appointment to the U.S Military Academy. He graduated in the class of 1954, commissioned a 2nd Lt. US. Army, Armor. Jack Beringer and Joan Forrester Self were married on 12 March 1955, at Shove Chapel, Colorado College, Colorado Springs. For the next twenty years there were numerous assignments including tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He was a graduate of the Command and Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, and The Armed Forces Staff College, Norfolk, VA. Among awards and decorations were included WWII Victory Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals. His last assignment was at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas as Chief of Armor Branch, USACACDA. Jack retired from the Army August 1,1974. The family retired to Fort Collins, CO for the next eighteen years. Jack attended Graduate School at Colorado State University and was an administrative officer for five years. He was head finish judge for all CSU track and cross country meets, to include the WAC conference championships. In 1992 Jack and Joan moved to Colorado Springs and settled into their new home. He enjoyed his associations with Colorado College including the CC hockey team. He was a member of Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, and the Argonauts in Colorado Springs. Though ill health had been with him many years he continued a happy and active retirement. Family and wonderful friends, reunions, and a continued close relationship with his West Point class mates were a big part of Jack and Joan's life. He is survived by his wife Joan, his son Luke Beringer, daughter Laura and son-in-law Ryan Campbell and a granddaughter Carrie Joan. Services will be held at Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, 4th and Polo Drives, Thursday 29th of March at 10:00 AM, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. DEAR JOAN, LUKE AND LAURA

OUR PRAYS REMAIN WITH YOU AS YOU ADJUST TO LIFE WITHOUT JACK. HERE IN MY OFFICE I AM REMINDED OF JACK DAILY AS I AM FACING THE PAINTINGS HE DID OF MY THREE DAUGHTERS AND MOM. JACK WAS SO TALENTED AND SO GENEROUS TO SHARE HIS TALENT WITH US. ELLIS REALLY ENJOYED GETTING TO KNOW JACK. HE SAID I HAD THE NEATEST RELATIVES. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT HE WILL HAVE BEEN GONE 6 YEARS THIS JULY 2.
LOVE, MARY
