Dear Jurgen and Sonya, We were so sad to hear of the death of your son, Jacob. Kendall informed us about it. We didn't know him but still remember you coming to our home on Granite Circle in 1980 with your first baby. Losing a child has to be the hardest thing any parent can go through. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My heart was heavy upon hearing the news about Jake. The Bechtold girls have fond memories playing games outside with Jacob; building snow forts, celebrating birthdays, riding bikes and generally just being kids from our nine years there in the neighborhood on Virginia Ave. He will be missed. Full of life and full of fun is how I remember Jake...and usually up to a little mischief. Know that I am thinking about you all and pray God brings you comfort in this time of sorrow and grief.

It is with great sadness that I am signing this guest book entry. You have been in my heartfelt thoughts these past days. These are very hard days for your family but you have the strenght of a strong family.

Jacob was one heck of a firefighter! I was honored to work with him. RIP as one of Colorado Springs heroes.

While I only interacted with Jacob a handful of times, there was an incredibly special enthusiasm he displayed that made everyone smile. I felt like I had known him for years. He will be missed by so many more than anyone can count. My heart goes out to the Bergeron family and all who grieve this tragic loss. <3

I can't tell you how much my heart is breaking with you. Although Jacob was only in our lives for 3 short years, I considered him one of my children. He was a part of our family, and always will be. Jurgen and Sonya: I am so sorry for your loss, words could not possibly console you at a time like this. I hope only time will eventually minimize your sorrow. Will remember Jacob from the few times I saw him jumping off walls with his BMX bike over at Horace Mann and how happy he was completing those daredevil moves. Take Care, Mark
