James Blaylock Obituary

James (Jim or Brad) B. Blaylock, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 25, 2016. He was born February 4, 1951 to parents James McClellan Blaylock and Evelyn Lorraine (O'Neal) Blaylock. He grew up a Westside Colorado Springs native and was a graduate of Palmer High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served one term before moving back to the Westside to continue his career with his father in the family business Blaylock Construction, where he had previously spent his summers learning the construction trade. Although he spent all of his remaining years in the construction field, he also enjoyed motorcycles, racing, mechanics, paint and body work, working on cars for the Hill Climb, hunting, fishing, train collecting, watching sports or a good movie, and drinking a cold beer. The love for his trade and for many of his hobbies have been taught to and are treasured by his loved ones and will be carried on through many years to come.

He is survived by his sister Claire Brodeur (Roland), by three daughters, Heather Nguyen (Phat) and three granddaughters, Jennifer Underwood (Chad) and five grandchildren, and Jolene Blaylock (Chris) and five grandchildren, his former wife and mother of his children Valorie (Deloe) Blaylock, and his long-time companion and friend Janice Underwood.

He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by all.

An open house "Celebration of Life Memorial" will be held on Saturday March 19, 2016 from 2-6 pm at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Chad and Jennifer Underwood: 8390 Hardwood Circle - Colorado Springs, CO 80908. We would be honored for those who knew him to come and remember with us. You may stay as long as you'd like. Please call with any questions 719-475-1684.
