JEANNE SALCETTI Obituary

DR. JEANNE SALCETTI, D.D.S., M.S.
August 22, 1958 July 28, 2020

It is with deep sadness to announce on July 28, 2020 Jeanne Salcetti unexpectedly passed away at her home in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 61.
Jeanne was a fountain of energy that she poured into every aspect of her life. Jeanne grew up in Bethesda, MD and was a 1976 graduate of Walt Whitman High School. She subsequently graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School and received her master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jeanne ultimately pursued her career as a periodontist in Colorado Springs where she had an outstanding legacy as a leading periodontist and tireless representative for the Colorado Dental Association (CDA), the American Academy of Periodontology, and the American Dental Association. She notably forged new ground for women in Colorado dentistry becoming the first woman president of the CDA. She matched her substantial professional accomplishments with a generous community spirit as a member of numerous organizations and a volunteer for the Colorado Mission of Mercy and The Dominican Dental Mission Project.
Jeanne's professional career glitters with awards and accolades too numerous to list, but her proudest moments centered on the two brightest lights in her life: her daughter Killian, and her son Decker. Jeanne shared her passion for family, a love of the outdoors, skiing, education, world travel, and hard work with her children.
A veritable "force of nature", Jeanne lived each day to its fullest and we pray for her to find eternal peace. We miss her greatly and will always hold her in our hearts. Jeanne is survived by her children: Killian L. Rush and Decker R. Rush; her father, Dr. Joseph R Salcetti; her siblings: Joseph Salcetti (Martha), Charles Salcetti (Donna), Robert Salcetti (Rose), Dr. MaryAnne Salcetti (Dr. Bruce Marzullo), Thomas Salcetti (Deirdre), Stacey Figueroa (Mitchell); as well as her loyal dog and loving companion, Kiyote.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a memorial donation to the Colorado Springs Conservatory, Attn: Linda Weise - 415 S. Sahwatch St., Colo. Spgs., CO 80903; Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Attn: Kelley Likes - 610 Abbot Lane, Colo. Spgs., CO 80905.
Memorial arrangements will be announced at a future date. Shrine of Remembrance is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered at https://www.shrineofremembrance.com.

I can not believe what I'm seeing about Jeanne. Totally in shock. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jeanne while she was in her perio residency at UNC. I was in dental school and honestly, not much of a perio fan. After meeting her though I learned so much about perio from her. She was one of the most pleasant and fun people to be around and my wife and I ultimately developed a friendship with her and her husband. I'm sure that her children are beautiful inside and out. We periodically touched base with each other which is exactly what I was reaching out to do when all this news flashed up on my screen. I already miss her and am certain that her patients feel an incredible void.

Jeanne and I have been in a business owner peer-advisory group for 12 years where we try to help each other master business while maintaining balance. For ten years we were members. For the last two, I have the honor chairing our Executive Legacy peer group. In 2013, I was asked to lead a team of three to focus on a business issue Jeanne wanted to resolve. To prepare, Tuesday evening, May 21, 2013, Jeanne and I [Tom Lachocki] had dinner at Springs Orleans to understand her long-term goal.

During dinner, I asked her this hypothetical question, “what would you want etched on your gravestone?” Or, “How do you want to be remembered?” After some wine and conversation, she said, “Great Mother, Talented Surgeon, a Connector.”

Relative to motherhood, in 12 years of monthly meetings, there was not one where she did not mention the adventures and progress of Killian and Decker. She is so proud of you both.
Relative to her being a talented surgeon, she was a little more than that. Yes, her reputation and skill is well known. But more, she organized five study groups with dentists, specialists and surgeons. In a way, she was not only a talented surgeon, she helped others become better too. That legacy stretched across the front range.
There were so many times when someone in our peer-group needed a referral to a oral surgeon, an MD, and Jeanne would give us a name and number. We only need look around the room to know how she connected others.

A GREAT MOTHER, A TALENTED SURGEON, A CONNECTOR. That’s how Jeanne will be etched in my memory. Mission accomplished. Rest in peace, Jeanne.

As a long time patient of Dr. Salcetti, I will miss her dearly. Besides being a professional and excellant doctor, she always gave out positive energy, inspiration and unending care and understanding to her patients...as if we were "family". Sincerest condolences to the family, especially to her children whom she spoke often of with love in her heart.

From a 1000 miles away I just found this tragic news. I can only say that the beautiful butterfly I saw today was Dr. Salcetti’s spirit resting over this anxious earth. Peace and joy.

As Dr Salcetti's patients, Elinor and I are so sad to hear of her death. All too soon.

We have been patients of her's for over 10 years and always appreciated her care, including her evening phone calls to check on our well being.

The cheerfulness and competence of her staff was always appreciated.

We will miss her dental skills, friendliness and compassion.

Dr. Salcetti was a wonderful dental surgeon. I have been a long time patient of her and she has never let me down. After each surgery every time an old root canal failed, she would call to check up on how I was feeling.

She had a joyous spirit and integrity.

I am saddened by her passing and her family, friends and patients are in my prayers.

May God give comfort to her family and help them through this difficult time.
