Jerry Whittier

December 11, 1953

October 8, 2021

Jerry Lee Whittier passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021. Jerry was born Dec 11, 1953, in Genoa, NE, but grew up in Colorado Springs where he learned to love all things outdoors. Of his many high school accomplishments, Eagle Scout was one he was most proud of. After high school, he was honored to serve in the US Navy, where he spent 4 years cruising the Mediterranean. He used the technical and leadership skills from the Navy to come home to Colorado Springs for a successful career in the electronics industry. Jerry returned to college in his 50's to begin a new career in something he always wanted to do – teaching. He taught at The Digital High School (Wasson) for 11 years, retiring in June 2020. Jerry loved fishing, camping, hunting, woodworking, and household honey-do's. An avid sports fan, he loved the Broncos, Avalanche, and Rockies, attending games whenever he could. Most of all he loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. He will be missed dearly for his sense of humor and easy-going nature.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 41 years Cindy (High) Whittier; his two daughters, Jennifer (Gabe) Fisk and Aubrey (Shawn) Whittier; his grandchildren Makenzie Garner, Emberlynn and Valentine Lamley; his father, Don Whittier; his sister Patty (Paul) Magginetti; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and best friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Phyllis Whittier.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 1:00 p.m., at Woodmen Road Baptist Church, in Colorado Springs. A private family burial will be held on Monday, Oct 25, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in Jerry's name to America's Gold Star Families.
