JoAnn Schmidt Obituary

08/28/1939 – 01/09/2009
JoAnn Schmidt passed away January 9, 2009 at Sunny Vista surrounded by her family. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Schmidt Apiaries with her husband, Frank. She was born August 28, 1939 in Hollywood, California to Gerald and Agnes (Johnson) Sweetser. She married the love of her life, Frank H. Schmidt, on December 29, 1957 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. JoAnn was a member of Austin Bluffs Garden Club, volunteered for the American Cancer Society, and was a previous member of the Pikes Peak Bee Association. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, spending time with family and was very active with the local farmers markets. Patrons to the markets affectionately called her the "honey lady". Her husband, Frank, and her daughter, Cindy (husband Rick) Piano along with a host of family and friends survive her and will remember her with love. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Inurnment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum. Memorials in JoAnn's name may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, 610 Abbot Lane, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.

Dear Frank and Cindy,

I always remember JoAnn and Cindy going to Johnstone Supply together to pick up parts. Frank Clark always said that JoAnn and Cindy were a pair! Frank - thanks for sharing your daughter with my brother and my family, and Cindy, what can I say, your Mom lead you to us!!!!!
