Judith Johnson Obituary

Judith Ann
Johnson
August 17, 2025

Judy was born in Chicago, and lived on the city's South Side until her college years at George Williams College.
She married Dan Johnson in 1967. Judy and Dan then worked as house parents for ten emotionally disturbed boys ages 6-12. The family moved to Colorado in 1973, residing in the Ute Pass area for 26 years. Judy was heavily involved with the Cascade Women's Club, AdaWoman Club, the same book club for decades, and as head coach of a league-champion Little League team.
Judy held a variety of customer service and administrative positions over her career, including 12 years in the airline industry.
Judy's positive outlook influenced everyone who came into contact with her. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with friends. A natural leader throughout her life, Judy was elected to the Manitou Springs School District Board and served two terms as president of the Villa Sierra Condominium Association on Colorado Springs' West Side.
Judy and Dan were happily married for 58 years. They have three children: Christopher (Lori), Tim (Heather), and Jennifer (Harry); five grandchildren: Austin, Summer, McKenna, Cavan, and Noelle; and two great-grandchildren: Atlas and Oaklynn. Judy is also survived by her brother Walter and sister Carol. She was preceded in death by her sister Marilyn and brother Earl.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Garden of the Gods Trading Post on Sept. 13 from 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Penrose-St. Francis Cancer Program.

Oh Judy. The most gracious, loving and courageous woman we have ever known. You always gave everything your all and cancer had no idea you could fight like that and stay optimistic the entire way.

Judy served on the social committee here at Villa Sierra. She hosted Christmas Cookie Exchanges, Ice cream socials, BBQ's and so much more. She was so much fun and had so much energy. She will be missed for her smile and positive attitude.

Judy was one of my closest friends when we attended Harper High School in Chicago, graduating in 1964. I visited Judy several times in Colorado Springs, when our son was living there. Our group of H.S. friends has stayed in contact all these years. We gathered together about 10 years ago at Lake Tahoe in California and more recently in Santa Cruz. My close friendship with Judy and our other friends through all these years has been formational to me. Our bond has been deep. Judy. will be deeply missed by me and our mutual friends. My thoughts are with her family, whom she cherished, and others who love and miss her. Barbara Johnson Broadbent
