Karen Annette Ager, 77, passed away after a long illness, Nov. 19, 2025. It was the 47th anniversary of her marriage to Jerry Ager who survives her.
Born in Colorado Springs, Karen attended Pauline Memorial Catholic School and graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in 1966. In 1967, she was selected to serve as the El Paso County Fair Queen. She then graduated from Mid West Business College and enjoyed a long career with General Electric as a space defense security officer.
An avid horse enthusiast and competitor since age 12, Karen was always involved in local rodeo and gymkhana events and was a top barrel racer and trainer.
She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Charlotte Bensberg, and brothers Bob and Gery. She is survived by her brother, Jim Bensberg; son, Tyson Ager, granddaughters Kadence and Paige; and daughter, Samantha Ager, and grandson Kainoa.
A funeral Mass will be held Dec. 13, 10:30 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 12130 Falcon Hwy., burial to follow at Simla Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice (pikespeakhospice.org). Karen's family is deeply grateful for the caring staff at Pikes Peak Hospice where she spent her last hours in comfort.

Oh Karen, how hard you fought your health battle, it was no surprise as you were always determined in any endeavor you undertook. I know I speak for my sister Sandra (Kingery) Patrick that there were many adventures, stories, and good times in those many miles we spent on the roads hauling your crazy horse to rodeos all over the states surrounding Colorado. You are healed now and that is a blessing. To Jerry, Sam and Ty may the Lord comfort you at this time and turn your tears of sorrow into precious memories of this special woman.

I am so very sorry Karen has passed away. We have known each other since the early `60s through rodeo and "queen stuff!" She was a great gal and she will be missed. She has had such a health battle and is now at peace. She is reunited with so many friends, but will be sorely missed by her family. Rest easy, Karen.
