Kenton Paul Shaiffer, 60, died on November 10, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a friend to many.
He was born on March 18, 1957 in Jamestown, North Dakota. He grew up in Germany where he started playing football and his passion for sports started. He settled in Colorado Springs where he attended Palmer High School and graduated in 1975.
He joined the Navy and served off the coast of Vietnam. During his time in the Navy he was exposed to asbestos while assisting with the removal of asbestos from his naval ship.
Ken then worked as a Power Plant Operator at the Ray Nixon Power Plant.
He later married Vicki Hanson at Faith Lutheran Church in Security.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Shaiffer; son, Rick Shaiffer of Fountain, Colorado; daughter, Sheryl (Jason) Vowels of Colorado Springs; step-father, George Shaiffer of Colorado Springs; two brothers, David Shaiffer, and Russell Shaiffer of Colorado Springs; three sisters, Lori (Keith) Schleichardt of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lynn (Mike) Stoltz of Salcha, Alaska, and Susan Shaiffer of Colorado Springs; and his seven grandchildren.
Ken passed away from asbestosis while waiting to be put on the lung transplant list through the VA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Shaiffer; and his sister, Susan Schielke.
His grandchildren were the light of his life. He also enjoyed camping, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and helping others. He will be best remembered for his kind heart, compassion, exceptional generosity and love of family.
