Kevin Francis Donovan passed away in his home in Colorado Springs, CO on March 5, 2024. Kevin was born to Thomas and Patricia Donovan on July 14, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. The Donovan family moved to Colorado Springs in 1966, promptly establishing a prominent reputation in the community.
Growing up, Kevin gained an affinity for the outdoors by working at Seven Falls Park and racing with the Broadmoor Ski Club. He earned his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University and law degree from the University of Denver. He practiced law for over 25 years in Colorado Springs, serving as a defense attorney, public defender, and for the Cherokee Metropolitan District. Kevin successfully argued two cases before the Colorado Supreme Court and co-wrote a novel, The Water Lawyer, with his friend and colleague Barry James Hickey based on his exploits.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Pat Donovan. He is survived by his father, Tom Donovan, siblings Thomas Donovan, Daniel Donovan, and Melanie Silva and their children (Eamon, David, Erin, Julie, Paul, Anne, and Laura), son Matthew Donovan, and daughter Shannon Donovan.
Details regarding the celebration of Kevin's life will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

We send our condolences to the entire Donovan family. They moved in, next door, when Kevin was very young and it was fun having the Donovan siblings to grow up with. How sad I am to know our friend has passed, too soon. Sending love and prayers to all, from our entire family.

So very sorry to hear this news. Kevin and I would carpool together from Colo Spgs to Fort Collins (Fort Fun) back in college days. We always had good deep discussions and lots of laughter together. He was always a solid guy and faithful friend. prayers go out to his family and friends

Tom Donovan and loving family members our condolences for your loss.
I have known the Donovan family for 35 years from living on the westside of Colorado Springs. The Donovan´s have many friends in Colorado Springs and celebrated St Patrick´ Day at Roger´s Frontier Bar and the Donovan´s participated in celebrating and trying to keep the parade on the westside of Colorado Springs.This a was a great tradition for all westsiders back in the day.
Kevin Donovan will truly be missed.
