Loren Miller Obituary

Loren Deane Miller passed on peacefully asleep on October 29, 2009. Loren was born to George Leroy Miller and Laura Ernestine Thrall on May 13, 1926, in Colorado Springs, CO. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1944 and went on to college, first to Southern Methodist University and then to Stanford University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in 1947 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1951. Loren married his high school sweetheart, Wilburta (Willi) Tainter, on June 22, 1949, in the Shove Memorial Chapel on the campus of Colorado College. Loren and Willi celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past summer. While at SMU, Loren was in the V-12 officer candidate program for the US Navy. During the Korean War, as a Lieutenant, he served as Senior Medical Officer with Escort Squadron 3 off the coast of Korea. Loren's medical career as a general practice physician and radiologist was long, over 45 years, and successful. He earned and held the trust of his many patients and enjoyed the esteem of his colleagues. His wife survives, as do their five children: Stephen Allan Miller (Cheryl) of Fort Collins, Deborah Ann Henry (Tom) of Denver, Jonathan David Miller (Linda) of Safford, AZ, Christopher Gregory Miller (Katie) of Tulsa, Jennifer Leslie Nichols (Scott) of Boise; fourteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Loren's cousin, Barbara Joan Miller (Bobbi) Stolz of Butte, and her family also survive. Loren's wish was for his family to remember him privately. Contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in Loren's name will be appreciated.
